My Soldier Son is coming home for Christmas

Hey All,
Well some of ya know, my boy is coming home for Christmas. He has a long trip home from Hawaii and we cant wait to see him, he was in boot camp over the winter came home for two weeks and has been gone since, gonna be a good time. Thinking of what to get him I thought well blades for one thing is a good idea, when he gets home he will be able to pick any khuk I have in the collection (Dang I must really miss him) and I have another one for him, I am a HI man all the way but im also a Beckerhead and I thought a BK-7 would fit the bill as well, so I got a great deal on one and did some customizing to it. I stripped most of the blade leaving the finish on the handle section to minimize rust, then I etched the blade and finished up with some light sanding and a mustard patina. I did one of these a few years back for myself and figured he would love one as well. I am going to get him his pick of custom scales for it and plan on a dual sheath build for him, one in leather of course and (hold your ears Bawanna) Kydex which I think will hold up better in his environment. He is going on a short training deployment so the stock sheath will work for now considering the climate he will be in. Well anyho I hope ya like it:

Home for Christmas!!! Man thats about the best present a proud papa can have! Awesome looking knives too. Im sure he will be glad to have some new steel. Enjoy the holidays my friend and cant thank your family enough for your service!

A big congrats to you, Pugs. That sounds like a great time and I'm sure he will be proud to have the Becker to match his old man's.
 
I don't know nothing about Beckers but that's a sweet knife.

I'm kind of in a stalemate in that my son ships out Jan 22nd now, was the 15th, but he can't take anything with him, basically clothes on his back and no more than 20 bucks.

I'm thinking a delayed Christmas Present to go with his delayed entry. When he gets to wherever he gets we can figure out what he can use and I'll take care of it. I'm sure if he showed up at Basic with the Ultimate Fighter (his favorite of my knives) they would not be impressed.

I'm glad and his mother is ecstatic that he got to wait till after Christmas to go.

Glad your sons coming home Pugs. Give him all our best.

I'm not even gonna research that Becker, no I'm not, ain't gonna happen. Nope, no sirree. I'm filled with joy.
 
I'm really happy for you and your son. Some how, I suspect he'll really appreciate that blade. Sounds like Santa Pugs to me, lad!

Great gift for both of you. As many ahead of me have mentioned, the best gift is being home for Christmas. Though the Knife is an awesome one too. I think he will really enjoy that and I also can't wait to hear which Khuk he chooses. Though didn't you say you only had 3 in your collection these days? ;)
 
This gives me a great idea: USAF symbol mustard-patina'd onto a blade. Shouldn't be hard with a good stencil.
 
Glad that he'll be home for Christmas, you all must be very proud, and anxious to see him.

That gift is awesome, and I'm sure he'll really enjoy it, and put to good use.

Enjoy your time with him, as I'm sure the feeling is reciprocated.
 
Thank you everyone for the kind comments, we cant wait till tomorrow, and no video I promise as I cry like a baby watching them, so I can only imagine my own video :tears_of_joy::tears_of_joy::tears_of_joy:. And Shavru your right I forgot he only has the pick of three lol thats all I have... really!
 
Well he is home........... it was a long trip for him and he is exhausted but he is home and sleeping in his bed. We are now complete for the holiday's, Took him to moms work and of course she was a mess but had to do it. I did as planed and showed him all of my collection (all 3) :D and this is the one he picked:

Didnt give him the other one yet as its for Christmas.
 
Thats great Pugs! Can you blame him? Thats a beautiful setup. Should serve and protect for a long time to come. Enjoy the holidays now!
