My son is getting a canoe: Recommendation for a good canoeing knife?

As far as the moras, if the sheath is secured down, and won't go anywhere, but the knife is dumped, you still have the sheath... a replacement knife isn't that much. So, you don't have to go spend money on the sheath again. I would also recommend a mora, it won't hurt as much as losing a spyderco.
