My son, who is almost 40, has been out of work with a busted ankle for a few weeks and decided that he wanted to try his hand at making a knife. Well, here is his first attempt. He is the sole author of this blade. (all I did was bark instructions and help him clean up the grind lines.) He also made the sheath.

What'cha think?

O-1 Tool Steel
Burgandy Linen Micarta Scales
Stainless Pins
OAL - 8 1/4"
Blade Tip to Handle - 4"

Why is everyone making such wonderful first knives!?

Very simple design, but well executed. and that's good leather work too!

For a first knife, that's just insane. But, it makes a huge difference having a good teacher.

Very nice!

Better not have the arthritis act up or you might get benched by the younger generation.

Looks really good.

Obviously the results of fine teaching and inherited skills, Robert! :)

It has to feel really good when the son does the father proud like that.
