My Delica 4 (Wave) was also pretty dull out of the box... Whatever, I just reprofiled and sharpened it myself anyway.

If it's a knife you plan on using, it will go dull eventually anyway, and then you'll get around to sharpening it.

Why not start now? The fact is, each knife for each task may need a slightly different kind of edge -- toothy, polished, durable -- and the sooner you learn to sharpen for what your knife does, the better.

Check out our Maintenance subforum and read about sharpening.

I've been buying Spydercos since the company started selling knives. I've never seen a brand new Spyderco that wasn't razor sharp. Something is very rotten in Denmark, and several other places.

sharpen it, like you do to any dull knife.

for starters, try some punctuation.

Dude they got giant grinders. Hand it to the guy behind the display and tell him to grind it until it's razor sharp and for him not to come up for air until he's done.
Wheel grinder? Don't let your knife get anywhere near a wheel grinder. Don't let anybody go near a belt grinder with your knife unless you're certain they're competent with it. If the guy sharpening the knife himself carries a knife, as to see it and look at the edge to make sure you want him doing it to yours.

First of all, it's not my knife man, it's "his" ;) knife. Second, he's the one complaining about not being able to sharpen a knife. I say let someone with a grinder sharpen it up so he'll quit whinning about the factory edge. :D
