I recently purchased a S110V PM2 from a retailer, and I noticed today that the scales aren't the same color as each other. One looks like all the pics I've seen, very bright and vibrant in that blurple color, but the clip side G10 is a bit darker almost more navy in the color. I thought maybe it was a display model or something and it was just from dirty hands, so I cleaned it, but that didnt help at all. Any body else have different shades of G10 on their Pm2's? Just curious. Think its something Spyderco would warranty? or am I just being too picky and its not a big deal?

These pics arent the best, but the difference is really noticeable in person

I'm sure that different sheets of G10 are slightly different in color.

Are you using it or collecting it? If you're using it, use it. If you have it to collect, you may want to return it and let the retailer know to check it before they send the replacement.

If you don't like it.
Call them and tell them the issue.

As for me.

I would not care.

That is called a "unique" knife, and it's sets yours apart from the hundreds of others that are out there. It in no way impacts the functionality of the knife. If it was me, I would keep it as is knowing that I could pick my knife out of the crowd easily. If you are not happy with it, you can always send it back, but I view it as something to be embraced rather than rejected.

I didn't think like that to be honest, I just kept thinking if it was messed up. Thank you sir for opening my closed mind.

I like on_the_edge's way of thinking. People who collect currency love bills that were slightly misprinted or miscut, weird defects like that. 1 random scale that's slightly off color is a cool defect in my book

If oil, or similar, gets on light colored G10 it can darken it. Maybe lube from the pivot got on one scale and not the other?

Did you try washing the knife in hot, soapy water?

Could not have stated it any better.

To me......that is so minute that I wouldn't even care. This seems very much like nitpicking. It's a tool with an awesome steel that is made to be used.

I have a black handled user Millie. For $179.00, I think you deserve matching handles. I would return it. What if you try to resell it? I doubt they will be making blurple handles for more than a few more years.

Take the clip off, grab an old used toothbrush and some food-grade mineral oil, and scrub both handles thoroughly.

Pat dry with some paper towels and I guarantee you the scales will color-match after that.

(this is a great method to use on all G-10 handled knives, as the scales lighten over time as the surface dries and collects debris.... it literally makes them look new again)

Listen, sadly its a dud. I will gladly take it off your hands, free of charge. Ill put it out of its missery and dispose of it properly.

I saw a group photo of the S110V lineup and the Military in the pic had slightly darker scales. I assume it was just a different batch of G10. It is possible that your scales came from different batches.

Customer satisfaction and customer expectations can vary and within reason there is no one right answer here. That will be acceptable to some people and not to others. Based on the responses in this thread we can see that some posters think it is a positive, some think it doesn't matter and some find it unacceptable. That is a subjective decision that is yours to make. I personally would just knock the new off of it and move on. It wouldn't bother me at all. That is a knife that is far more of a user piece than a collector piece.

It's your knife, whether or not it's a big deal is up to you. It wouldn't bother me at all, but I don't think you're being silly if it bothers you.

Spydercos customer service is great. I'm sure they'll get you fixed up if you contact them about it.
