You can put an eye out with that!
Pic shows healed after about 36 hours. Bled like a bitch.
I just closed it too fast...without getting my middle finger out of the way. Scary sharp is learned the hard way.

Any other 'horror' stories?

Any cut that heals that fast doesn't count. Cuts that heal in last than a week just aren't cuts.

That's a horror story?

You need to at least cut some tendons and/or nerves to qualify as an idiot (like me) who can't handle knives properly.

Where are the stitches? :)

Dang, if I had a digital camera handy to take a picture with everytime I accidently cut myself with one of my Spydies (and others), I could really set up a horror-show of photographs.:D.

The VG-10 stainless that Spyderco uses takes a wicked sharp edge!..

We're hardened knife nuts here, your really gonna have to ry harder than that.
If it doesn't involve incredible carnage and or reconstructive surgery it at least has to involve unbeleivable stupidity. ie, the time I dropped a skinner and had it sticking out of the top of my foot :D missed an artery by about 1/8" so I didn't have to go to the hospital but I DO have a nice scar. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to get the top of my foot onto the scanner and still be able to reach the buttons ;)

So there ya go, now you know how to impress us..... If your smart you won't try.

Sorry 'bout that Arty. It's our job to make 'em sharp.

What I normally tell people is; "Please be very careful, they're very sharp, they don't notice flesh, they do chip the bone". ;)

So...you think we have an interesting group of people, that laugh at cuts?

sal

sheesh,
I wuz expecting to see a couple of missing appendages at least. What a letdown, more blud!!

Matt, if I had been there I would have been as helpful as possible, as sympathetic as I could be and I would have constantly been putting a maximum effort into not breaking into laughter. Sorry, but something like that is like watching someone slip on ice and land right on their butt. You know it hurts, but you just can't help but laugh.

And Matt, if I was there, I would have done everything in my power to get the top of your foot onto that scanner. I'd even push the buttons for you :D

There is two types of knife knuts. Those that have been badly cut, and those that are going to be badly cut.

Me? - cold steel SRK 3cm into left vastus lateralis (quadricep - on the front of the thigh) muscle. 15 internal and 12 external stitches. I thought I was fairly lean but there was still a healthy layer of yellow fat between the skin and the muscle. Cutting a muscle open feels like your getting kicked by a horse.

LMAO! !
ArtyZ - that WAS a nice cut don't listen to these guys. Next time you'll have to take the picture 10 seconds after you do it, with blood squirting from the wound - then MAYBE you'll get some respect from around here.
This is what happens when we play with knifes all day. A couple days ago I fell asleep with a knife in my hand because Im usually practicing with a new folder when Im watching TV at night(it was closed). And I KNOW Im not the only one in here that has done that.

ps. I got that same cut from the same knife! it sucked. but thats why Im a knife nut - because now... I like that knife even more!!
THIS SITE RULES!

Now THAT is a cut  How did you manage to do that and with what?

Keith and Dylan
I just hollered profane things at random, which brought my dad out of the barn and he immediately started laughing. Then I pulled my boot off since it was filling with blood, and decided I better head straight for the computer. Unfortunately my mom was using it at the time and was more concerned with trying to drag me to the emergency room than helping me show my friends :D Still working on getting her priorities straight ;)

BTW, since the newbie probably doesn't know, the man, Sal Glesser, is the President and Founder of Spyderco.

my best 2 cuts?

Air vent in the 12' ceiling when I was working maintanence for BK. I was getting it back up, since it only had a corner holding on... and it slipped out on me. it fell, and found my left thumb as I treid to redirect it away from my head. 2 weeks off work, and workers comp still screwed me. Total cut is only about 1/2" long, arc... Your thumb looks like hamburger meat inside.

Latest nice one is Feb 03. stabbed my left thigh with the spydie military. Missed everything, though I was too close to the boys for comfort. Still has a nice purple mark there. I finished up my shift, and was back the next day on that one. 1/2" of steel into my leg, look at the millie to see how wide it is there. Had my digi already when I did this one, but didn't think you guys would want to see a pic of the southern damage(and surrounding area). Took about a month to close up and start scarring.

Nicest wound was cutting potatoes in half, after they were peeled.... 3" paring knife, serrated. I pushed it down into my left index, into the first joint. As soon as I moved my finger, it bled like a bitch... down to the bone. Bandaid, and electrical tape over that, and back to work. No tendon damage that time either. 2 week healing.
