My Spyderhawk Bit Me!

I cut my index finger at the bottom when my palm slept from SOG Navy Seal 2000 handle right to the serretor when I stabed piece of wood on my wall just to check how safe this knife is. So it is a dagerous weapon! Especially for solder who will stab an enemy with it.
Doctor put 6 stitches on it in emergency room. I was lucky it did not cut anything but skin and muscules, I saw tendon when it was "fresh cut". I was impressed by this so I always check guard now and make my handles with now with really solid guards.
Thanks, Vassili.

as some of the 'War Wounds' you guys described, but this one definately freaked me out. Perhaps it was in part due to the 'mystique'of the spyder edge.
It does make me feel better; however, that I'm not the only one with battle scars.

Here is a pic of the blade before I cleaned it. I high-lighted where you can see the 'bite depth'.

hell, should see what the guys at work did with my "cigar cutter"(what they called my cricket when I handed them the frn/se).

in the first 10min, we had 2 cuts... one guy got his right thumb, full length of the pad(any guesses how that one happened?)... other stabbed the curved tip into his left thumb, mid pad, up to the first serration.

cutting 1/4" nylon rope.

Now THAT is a cut  How did you manage to do that and with what?

I swear I had only had one beer. Getting a new sea kayak ready for a trip starting the next day, cutting a piece of foam to fit a foot-well. Too lazy to get off my arse and find the right tool (anything serrated would have done nicely). Reached into my gear box and got out the SRK. Pulling the knife hard towards me, it bound up in the foam (the SRK is sharp but too thick for this sort of thing), slipped and the first thing I felt was that 'being kicked hard' sensation in my leg. I thought I'd just banged the knife against my thigh as I felt no piercing or tearing sensation. Looked down, into my leg.

The internal stitching and the surgeon rooting around between my muscles to get rid of any blood clots was the most painfull experience of my life (we did it under a local anesthetic to save time). It was also quite a trauma to my leg in general. It took 10 days or so before I could bend it properly. I reckon it took 3-4 days before I was even able to walk without a crutch.

That cut isn't too bad. It'll bleed much, but it's not really that bad.
I got this cut from a can lid that cut a flap out of the top of my right thumb. I had to put it together back and hold on hard to stop the bleeding, so I never saw what it looked inside. Took 5 stitches on the top, and bandaged for a week. Took another week to fully learn how to bend it again, and back only after three weeks when there's no possibility it would burst. A good bit of the top part of the skin died and I got some really new (and tender) skin after I peeled the dead layer off.

You call that a "wound"? Look at this...............

Heh sorry to pull up an old topic, but I basically cut my knuckle off with my exacto knife when I was cutting a piece of wood when I was bored. it slipped and sliced the top part of my knuckle on my middle finger of my left hand almost completely off, It bled for about 4 days until it finally quit, and it healed after 2 weeks or so. I severed a nerve so my middle finger is numb.

About 2 years later I was cutting another piece of wood with my stainless lock blade and it slipped and SEVERELY sliced into my knuckles of the same finger, but one knuckle lower, this time I went to the emergency room and got 5 stitches. It didnt heal for about a month, and didn't stop hurting for about half a year. Needless to say, my entire finger is really numb now, since I severed a huge nerve on both knuckles. They were such bad slices it made me sick to even look at them, and I have a solid stomach! It happens when you get a semi dull blade, and it gets stuck so you put a LOT of pressure on, and it slips and takes off your finger. Now I have HUGE scars on my middle finger :(
I guess I never learn to wear gloves eh?

Just over a month ago, I received my Cold Steel El Hombre in the mail. Two hours later, while practicing an underhand forward grip, I degloved my thumb. Took a 1.5"X0.5" section right off. I field dressed it from an ancient first aid kit (in my car, in the dark) and waited for a friend to arrive home so that I could get into his house. While I was fixing the curry dinner that I had been anticipating all day, he located my missing flesh as it rested piece-fully ( God help me, I couldn't resist) on the back of my pants leg. He then had the good taste to ask me what he should do with it. I had him throw it out, it wasn't doing me any good. I am proud to say that not a drop of blood graced my upholstery, although my t-shirt needed a good wash. Funny how blood turns pink on black cotton.... Still waiting on all of my skin to come back, but you don't hear me complaining. Hell, I simply fell victim to the law of averages, and it will happen again.

The guy at the knife shop "punishes" his knives when they cut him, leaves them in a drawer for a week and doesnt use them.
Im lucky, my spyderco hasnt cut me yet. But i know its probly planning it. Worse cut i ever got with a knife? Cut up through a box with a SAK small blade, and sliced the end of my finger open. Bled like a stuck pig.

But the worse cut i ever got was from a brake release bracket in a car wreck, cut me from 3 inches below the knee cap, up and across the knee cap and furtherr up. Amazingly it just like filleted the skin, layed it over, no muscle or tendon damage.

Are you kidding me? Mine just came out of time out on Monday! Seriously.:p

I was being VERY stupid. I was tossing a locked-open buck knight folder and flipping it in the air and catching the handle. Well, needless to say, I missed. I felt a sharp pain and looked down at my sock that was already half-red. I took the sock off and saw blood rushing out and told my friend paul who was in hysterics to get a paper towel (i had the presence of mind to save my bedroom rug) and on TV was some Michael Jackson documentary (I don't know what was worse). Anyway, I bandaged it without telling my mom and for about 1 month it just pussed, then I started washing it more, putting Bacatracin on etc. until it finally started to heal, but I got an infection. I ran a course of ammoxicillin and the swelling went down and it healed. I have a very raised 1/4-1/2" scar on my left foot now, though. I'm just glad I wasn't tossing my Wave....

I got more cuts and more stiches than I can remember, being a mechanic/millwright/machinist/fabricator,(I don't know what else to call myself), I've poked, sliced, hammered, shredded, fillet, scraped and sawed through most of my extremities, some even more than once.

Latest cut was with a band saw at work, I slipped and my pinky went straight into the blade. I cut right through the nail and half way down to the first knuckle,Basically split my pinky in 2. There's a picture somewhere on the forum, I'll have to see if I can find it.
