Bob must have a magic hat! For the past several shows in NYC, he had implied that the blades that were displayed on his table were the ones with the last of the stag handled models due to prohibitive import policies.
But make no mistake, that Strait Hunter along with all of his other models, are fully functional as attractive. Very nice piece there Buzzbait.
Hoo Boy!
That looks great.
I recently bought the Pro Guide with natural micarta handle.
It looks great, but now, I'm imagining it with stag handles.
Guess my next Dozier will have stag handles!
Lenny
I brought the stag Dozier into work today for my buddies to see. One of them was a machinist in an arsenal for 25 years, and he really understands what goes into making a quality tool. He just looked at it from every conceivable angle for about twenty minutes. All he could say was, How did this guy get the stag to fit so perfectly? Its as if horns grew on the damn handle!
I have a K4 with jade green Micarta scales and brass pins that I've always been partial to. BUT THAT KNIFE JUST BLOWS IT AWAY! If there's magic on earth, that's it. Congrat's on a great knife.
Stag scales with Dozier's masterfully ground and treated D2 blades = just about my dream hunter. That knife begs to be used. With quality stag becoming harder to come by, I've half a mind to get my order in right away.
Sure is a wonderful thing when form and function meet at the right place. Beautiful knife and I have no doubt that it will perform as well as well or better than anything else that can be found. Enjoy!
Keep in mind that I didn't order this with stag. He may not be taking orders for stag handled knives. I just called in for a micarta straight hunter, and they happened to only have a stag version on the shelf. I just got lucky. I'm wondering if it was made specifically for somebody special, and Bob dipped into his secret stash of stag, and they canceled the order. Either that or he just started making up some special knives in preparation for New York show, and Linda accidentally sold me one of his show pieces. Either way . Im not looking a gift horse in the mouth!!!!!
I do think that Linda mentioned having a Slim Outdoorsman in stag though. There's also a stag handled Professional Guide on Ebay.
