My Stuff (if anyone cares)--Pic Heavy--

Nice gear.
You should think about picking up a dehydrator and making meals yourself.
Started doing that in my early 20's backpacking and still make my own 20 years later. Way better and you know how it will turn out flavour and texture wise........always field test one in the yard before adding it to the pack.

I have made a few of my meals for food strapped hikers met on multi-day routes and were amazed at how good they are.

regards

Excellent gear! I'm assuming that you have a compass and some other small things that just weren't photo-worthy. The biggest thing is that you were actually out in the woods using your gear! How many people do you know that assemble a "bug-out bag" and have never actually tried to use the stuff? My friends and I went through a long phase trying out and discarding gear before we came up with decent inventories.

Oops yeah forgot to photograph my compass. I use the Cammenga J582T Tritium wrist compass. It's actually pretty darn accurate and the tritium inserts work great even in total darkness. I can't say that it feels like it would stand up to some serious abuse, however, it is made in the USA so that makes me feel a bit better.

I don't have a GPS unit but I've shopped around for some. Even before that though I want to take a navigation course and buy a nice lensatic compass and learn how to really use it.

That's some really nice gear. Maybe you won't have to hike so far when some of the back roads open up in the summer.

if you got the bucks, the True-Spec 24-7s offer knee pad inserts

I was looking at those black diamond Storm Head lamps. They are comparable to yours is size, It looks like you trade watterproofness for higher lumins and a lock/battery meter?

I've decided that until I get in better shape I'm more of a car camper. I'd love to have a 4x4 van with my camping stuff in it

I dun' know, just some thoughts brother.

Thanks for sharing, I'm gonna pick up one of those SAS Survival Guides, Looks like it might come in handy.

Really nice gear. Looks like you put a lot of thought into it.

I wear knee pads A LOT --- saves a lot of wear and tear and I hate wet jean knees. For those who would like to try them, Harbor Freight sells a good set (with the plastic caps) for a couple dollars.

A enjoy having a large caliber handgun when camping out. Makes me feel more at ease. I'm not fond of Glocks, but that is a nice, light 45 ACP and it'll go bang every time.

Looks like some great stuff you've got. I'm only now making the transition from hunt-camp and campground to getting more into bushcraft. I've got a cool little Wetterlings Small Axe for carving and kindling jobs, and I'm in the midst of trying to find a good bushcraft knife to yearn for. I really like a couple of the Helle knives, but I want something that will throw a spark from the spine. I'm thinking of getting a Mora Light My Fire as a cheap camp knife, but I sure ain't gonna baton with a Mora...

I currently have a couple of Gerbers: an LMF II and a uh... Bear Grylls Ultimate [sheepish grin]. I think that if I'd gotten the BG before the LMF II, I might like it. As it is, I like the package aspect, but not so much the knife.

I also recently got a surplus US Marine corps ILBE pack. I've got a nice Eberlestock for hunting with, too.

I'm still at the beginning, here. But I'm jazzed about getting into the bush more.
