So Sunday I rounded up a buddy and hitched up the trailer and drove to Idaho. It was time to pick up my 3B surface grinder. Everything went smooth and easier then any one expected. I used a tilt deck trailer and a Electric wench. Hooked the wench to the handle of the pallet jack and hit the go button. The wench turned the grinder 90° and up the trailer it went. And it was self guiding right to the center. We strapped it down and where about to head out but took a look at all the other stuff he had. The wife does not send me with cash to these kind of places becaus she knows what I will do if she is not around to monitor me lol. So we where looking around at all the mills, lathes and piles of tooling. He took out to his shed and was showin* us things like motorcycles and rototillers. He pointed at the floor under a pile of junk and said, do you need a tumbler. A tumbler you say, let’s see it. He pulled it out and I instantly knew I must have it. I say could be (as I’m fighting back my excitement). How much I ask, we’ll how about $60. I said what’s the I take it right now cash price. He said I don’t know how about $40. Hum I said as I looked it over. He asked how much cash do you got? I said I got zero cash, you know my wife handles that part. He laughed and said hell just take it, I know you will be back. I shook his hand and said deal. We loaded up and befor leaving he handed me a really nice fly cutter and some carbide and HSS bits. He said here have this as well, I know you where eyeballing them last time. His dad use to manufacture these fly cutters in this shop way back in the day and he suplyed company’s like SPI with all their fly cutters thy sold. I was tickled pink and told him I would be back to buy an entire set. Still has quite a bit of them left. So I thanked him again and off we went. I got home and unloaded the grinder and goodies, and moved the grinder into its home.
So in general it was a real great day. I will not post here what I discovered when I took apart the grinder, I will save that for another thread. It’s not good but could have been much worse.
It unloaded even smoother
As you can see I got a shit ton of wheels, probably going to convert to belt. This will be explained in the next thread why. And the tumbler is rubber lined and full of ceremic media.
SCORE
I will snap a pic of the fly cutter when I head out to the shop.
