My "Survival" Gear

even though you have a steel container for boiling I would get a widemouth 1L steel bottle and swap it for one of your plastic ones. A lot better to have a dedicated water boiler and your pot for cooking. Plus you can put the steel bottle in a stream etc to cool. And they don't crack.

A small deep woods Off 2 oz pumpbottle of 100% deet

a light toque with a pair of thin wool gloves, have that in all our packs and has come in handy many times

20 or 30 feet of wire and a half dozen zap straps for gear repair, hanging your steel bottle over the fire.....

Small waterproof container of salt to replace sweat to stop cramping or season fish

a couple of energy or snicker bars as suggested

you have a good start on your kit

Post what you have in your main first aid kit....... it looks a little light IMO

regards

...If I may suggest, get rid of the matches for a couple of lighters...

+1  This was going to be my suggestion. I never carry matches. Lighters more convienient and compact, and magnesium bars are unaffected by weather and age.

By the way, nice looking dog. I bet she makes a great trail buddy. ( But how do you load her into the pack? :D)

...Its hard for me to give up thebuck though...

The Vanguard may not me the most popular choice in this forum, but it is my favorite fixed blade of all time. I wouldn't feel under-equiped with one.

Good start! I would also add some chlorine dioxide tablets for water purification, or at least iodine, which can be used for both first aid and water purification. How about a bandana or two? Very light, and very handy for many things.
