My Take on a Military TWO

The only changes that I would like to see would be:

-larger/ tougher screws (as mentioned earlier)
-Larger lanyard hole (as mentioned earlier)

---Most importantly--- I would like to see a smaller cut-out in the handle for the liner lock. I really don't need much of a cut-out at all to disengage the lock, and having all that liner out in the open leads to the possibility of accidental closing. It is not a big deal, but I would really like to see that change happen.

I hope they don't use a fancy lock on the 2, It would be nice if they made the liner lock twice as thick though, the only reason I haven't considered a millie is the wimpy looking lock.

I would love a deeper choil/larger guard. S35V, I have no idea about exactly how much of an improvement it would be over S30V, but I am sure it would make one hell of a blade. The new insert into the locks of the Ti model should prove to be a good idea. The ability to relocate the clip would be nice. A deeper pinky ramp on the bottom end might be a nice touch too. Regardless of the changes made, I am sure that we will all want one.

I just want carbon fiber and a wire clip without a single other change. I'm with Powernoodle, the liner lock is the most user friendly for me, one handed, of any style I've used.

Beefier screws, thick comp lock or BB lock, stronger tip (harpoon?) and better standoffs.

Prep your rotten eggs...
I'm going to go in another direction. The tip of the Mili has always been a bit slim and "Splinter Pickerish" for a "Hard use" knife, IMHO... I've long thought it would be cool if they did a run of the military in a flat-saber grind ala the Endura Gen 4, prior to them killing it by going FFG...
Gimme a Mili in S35VN (or whatever decent steel Sal would like to use, come to think of it, CPM-154 would be great for this purpose!) with a combo edge and a flat-saber grind with some tip strength, and it MAY help tide me over until the Tuff is finally set loose upon an unsuspecting world...

Well Shawn, I edited that to say in my view.

The liner lock on the current Military is so easy to (intentionally) disengage with one hand that it is second nature. Seems to me that the compression lock can be closed with one hand, but certainly not as easily or intuitively, and it requires the fingers to be repositioned.

As far as the ball lock goes, I do not find it easy to disengage with one hand. You have to pull on one side with the thumb, and the other side simultaneously with the first finger.

Now part of my preference for the Military's liner lock as opposed to the Para 2's compression lock or the Manix 2' ball lock is the system to which one is accustomed, and so-called "muscle memory", which I guess means the same thing.

I just find the Military's lock incredibly easy and intuitive to disengage with one hand and would hate to see it disappear from the Military.

So this is just my view. And don't forget that while I almost never right about anything, I may have stumbled into the truth on this one.

I agree 100%.

The long handle is my favorite part, lol.

The long handle is one of my favorite parts of the Mil....

The compression lock is much easier to manipulate one handed and is more secure than a liner lock. Fingers never cross the blade path and the lock is in a very safe location. JMO. I would then buy one.. Plus all the upgrades done to the para 2.

That's why I don't like linerlocks. As long as I don't kknow how the stop locks operates I'm definitely for the stop lock.

Ive always loved the liner lock on the Military. The only things id change on it would be a bigger lanyard hole, a 1:1 blade-handle ratio, a different clip and perhaps a better steel even though S30V is pretty good stuff.

Either way. The Large handle is part of what makes the knife what it is. Same with the para 2 . Full grip handle plus choil and a somewhat legal length for the blade. I cant wait to see what they come up with.

That's impossible for a folder with a pivot.
