Problems..problems..How much bounce does a good slijoint have when closing? If I station the closed blade ...say..3/32" away from spring...then upon closing with a good snap it bounces just enought to ding middle of blade on the fattened portion of spring where the pin is located. If located farther away..then pivot pin needs to be located farther away from spring and...you know...one thing leads to another. Shees!

This is not answering your question, but a quick fix for now would be to make a groove lengthwise in the middle of the center backspring hump, to give the blade a bit of relief. I have some old knives that actually used this - or fitted multiple blades by filing down one side or the other (or both) of the hump to give the blades a bit of space. Of course, you don't want to go overboard. It may not be elegant, but it's certainly handmade. :)
