My Tarwar's ready for stormin' the castle

Beautiful, I want one !

The baldric that is !!

My Tarwar is in the air, how does this sword handle Sarge !!

Thanks Brendan, I get a kick out of making my own medieval gear. When you "do it yourself" you get to decide everything from what materials to use, to how things get put together. There's a learning curve to it, this one didn't turn out perfect, and neither will the next one, but it'll just get better. I produced a lot of kindling learning to make bows, to master a skill requires payment of dues.

How's the Tarwar handle? Cross a really good machete with a really good khukri and you start to get the idea.:D :D

Sarge, looking at your baldric in the pic it appears that you might make good use of a bone tool to smooth the edges of the belting.
Tandy has a couple made from plastic that work really well. I've had my round slotted one for over 20 years. You dampen the edge and then run the "slicker" up and down the edge in the groove smothing out the cut edge and rounding it nicely while polishing the living **** outta it.:)
You can make your own straight one out of any nice hard bone. Just smooth it out really slick and put a rounded point on it to get in the tight places like the inside corners. It also helps to put a small groove in the flat end for the really really tight places.
Makes anyone's work look a lot more professional.:)

But then maybe it was just the photos?;)

I ran the search and understand. The Baldric sure enough looks ready to work. Very nice work.:) :D

Sarge - thanks for the photos : vaah, very nice!

I think I'm going to make myself something along those lines. I have an idea though to make the baldric-frog detachable (from the strap), so that I can use the same baldric for different khuks (with multiple baldric-frogs).

Yvsa,

Good advice, I generally use an old antler tine for burnishing or grooving the leather, just hadn't gotten to it yet.

Pappy,

Thanks, I'll be wearing it all weekend, so I'll find out if it's as serviceable as it looks.

Beoram,

What a great idea, detachable frogs would let you choose your khuk du jour, attach it to your baldric, and head out for the great outdoors.
Ideal carry system for the bigger khukuris.

I'm off to enjoy some proper feasting and carousing. Cheers all.
