Happy New Year everybody!!!

I made a new model I’d like to hear your thoughts about..
The idea was to make a sheath that is completely modular and can be set-up differently each time for any specific task. The sheath had to be strong, safe, reliable, weather-resistant and easy to use and maintain in the field. It should fit all kinds accessories and attachements one could need or want for a variety of uses.

After some try-outs and prototypes I believe this one is good enough to show here.
I only have some crappy pics cause the lighting is dim and it’s freezing cold, but I will add more to my blog later on. It’ll give you the idea for now.

This is the basic sheath:

It has a halftanned leather pouch and a removable kydex liner. There’s a drainage hole in the bottom of the sheath. In the bottom sits a Chicago screw that secure’s the kydex inside the pouch. On the side there’s a row of eyelets that will fit all kinds of accessories. The kydex is light coloured to make visual inspection easier, and to have a clear aimingpoint when resheathing the knife. The kydex is cut under an angle to have a larger opening for resheating, and to have something to pull on when removing the liner.

Features in a row:
It can be set-up with a teklok in horizontal, vertical and canted positions.
It can be setup with a beltloop for high, med or low carry.

It will fit all pouches in the Maxpedition style ‘Single Pouch’ or custom made pouches.

It will attach to molle gear and it can be carried upside down on a chestrig.

It’s easy to attach a length of cord. There’s always a free hole.
It has a very slim profile

Firesteelloop can be mounted inside or outside the sheath profile.

It can be carried horizontal on the belt using the loops

One pouch could fit many liners for different knives.
As an example. One pouch could fit liners for the F-1, RC-4, Bravo-1, and all other knives that, a bit more or less, have the same profile and length.

I hope you like it.
Comments are very welcome..

Happy New Year !!

That is absolutely beautiful. I love it. I hope you intend to stay busy making them!!!

That is an awesome idea. It would be so easy to make belt attachments for crossdraw or whatever. Easy to attach to whatever too.

Great idea and beautiful execution.

Sweet sheath Martin, I really love it.

This is really one helluva sheath! Great work. If I were to make a suggestion for consideration, it would be to put another row of rivets on the other side of the sheath. This will increase the width and bulk somewhat, but give more versatility in lashing when the lashings can secure the two sides of the sheath. I became accustomed to the holes on both sides of the sheaths in the rat cutlery's systems and really like it.

thanks guys, for the positive words..

@ kgd that's a great idea for the next one.. the 'Tactical Bushcraft' sheath..
Let's do that one someday.. :D

Cheers y'all !

That is ingenious! Extremely well thought out and perfectly executed!!!!!

I have to admit, at first I was completely turned off. Mostly because I wasn't a fan of the kydex liner, and I'm still not.
But, after seeing some subsequent photos, I really like how you can change the belt loop options around, add a firesteel loop and place it in several locations. It sure is a beautiful sheath once you add a belt loop(s) to it! I think you've got a winner there!

Still don't like the kydex though...

Great project. I did something similar with a Nite Ize Pock It (who comes up with these spellings?) pouch. I put my fixed blade in the large back pouch, a fire steel in one loop, a small metal file and Smiths diamond sharpening rod in the other. There is room for my SAK huntsman, a tube of petroleum jelly, life cards, lint wrapped in wax paper and a pencil wrapped in duct tape.

I kept trying to get my tarp and paracord in there, but....just....could...not (ugh)...make (grunt)...it...fit....(whew! that was a work out).

Keep up the great work!

Well thought out, versitile and functional, and great looking to boot.
