Well here's my third try at knife making.
blade is 1080

handle is snake wood
overall length is 9inches and about 4.25inch blade length

it's the first v grind i tried, it has a really thin flat grind all the way to the top up, done by hand with files which took forever and a year :)
I decided to not have grind lines on purpose to see what it would look like.

I forgot to line up the pins :( i'm too rushed when epoxing the scales on i can't find anytthing other than the stuff that starts to set in 5mins no mater where i look.
I did an ok (atleast better than before) finish originally and then got dried epoxy and screwed it up a bit getting the stuff off.
I also screwed up the finish while sharpening it :(
when making the blank i cut the choil? too far back and too deep so i "fixed it" in the handle (the back 1mm of the choil is wood and epoxy no exposed metal). I considered rounding the handle more but the scales are already a bit thin and i thought it would make the handle to small for me. as it is it feels comfortable with no hot spots.

it's pretty thin at the edge (but still doesn't feel fragile) and flat ground all the way to the top of the blade so it was much easier to sharpen and cut much more easily than my other knife i made. it went through card board with very little pressure at all (i think the recurve helped too).

I'm not even close to being good at this but a little better each time is the way to get there :D

even though i don't even want to think how many hours i put into this knife i know i enjoyed every one of them.

you have spent so much time on that already , a couple more hours of flat hand sanding will fix those OOP'S on the blade . Don't give up too soon .

Great Job! I like the overall shape. I agee take care of the whoopses, and try to file in your plunge cuts next time.

Nice knife!!

I reallly like snakewood. It's probably my favorite, if it doesn't split during shaping.

It looks like you may have left some epoxy at the front of the handle, on the blade. Acetone will easily wipe away extra epoxy after fastening the handle.

thanks for the encouragement everyone!
i'll keep at it and someday i'll have something worthy of the nice coments thrown my way.

i tried a little already, i think i may be able to get parts i messed up while sharpening, but when i tried re-hand sanding it left so uglyish scratches near the start of the handle, it's most clear in the last picture and i can't seem to figure out a way to get closer to the handles with the sand paper. any advice?

try to file in your plunge cuts next time
your right it will look beter that way. i made sure to not have any plunge cuts this time as an experiment for myself. i was curious as to if it would be stronger or have more of a usable blade if i didn't cut in the plunges. i'm glad i tried one like this but the next ones will have plunge cuts.
