My Thoughts on the Umnumzaan After Few Months Of EDC.

For those of you that havent take apart you zaan(I have 3)Theyre a piece

of cake. The looctite takes 30 Seconds+ to dry.Tighten the pivot down,

back it of a hair(maybe 2 hairs) and youre good to go.

On the instructions with the zaan tools, it clearly states 30 minutes for the loctite to dry. So it is more involed than a few seconds. I made sure my pivot bushing was set in the first 5 minutes so the loctite can dry in the proper position. I let it sit longer than the 30 minutes though just to be sure.

To elaborate a little, one of the risks of your "30 minutes and go" dictum is that you set it up correctly, it forms a weak bond, you use the knife and weaken or break the bond, and sooner or later as you use the knife the pivot screw backs off. When that happens, you are going to need more than that little Allen wrench to set it back up again.

You guys are being rediculous....you act like theres a constant force trying to un-screw the pivot...common sense goes a long way in life.

Please elaborate on what you plan on doing with yur pocket knife after you loctite the pivot...do you think a few openings are going to matter.

First of all you don't use a allen...and whats the difference....your gonna have the same scenario either way when the knife is taken apart sooner or later.....i don't care what strength loctite you use...with the proper take down tools it's NO issue at all.

Sorrrry for saying 30 seconds instead 30 min.

Ive always used 1-1 1/2 min. and Never had a Problem.Ive only had my 3

apart 5 times all together.I adjust in the first 30 sec,put it in my pocket,

and no I dont worry about the drying time.Ive never had a pivot loosen up

doing t this way.

If you feel better letting the knife sit on a table instead of your pocket thats

up to you.

I don't have a CRK yet (looking for a large regular Seb) but one tip with other folders is to put some Sportsmans Goop under the head of the pivot screw (NOT on the threads) when assembling. It holds the head of the pivot and stops it from unscrewing. Sets in a minuts, easy to remove.

I really, really don't like thread lock or Loctite on a product that has this much R&D put into it! Glue on a $400 knife!? Not acceptable!

Here is a thought. Make the pivot out of stainless steel or titanium and then add a set screw.

I really, really don't like the idea of youse guys putting loc-tite on a $400.00 knife....You are by far better off just sending them to me for proper disposal :D
