Most of you know I collect 112's in fact I've been chasing rare,odd,1 of 1,prototypes and basically any oddball 112 since 2007 . I blame my brother Dave for my addiction because he took me to the Blade Show in Atlanta and from that point on I was hooked. I have to admit the very first custom I had was from him, a nickel silver Damascus with Ivory he scrimed himself . And truth be told he gave or found for me a lot of very nice 112's since then but till now I have never commissioned one myself ..just picked up one's others had made . On EBay I seen a custom 110 that looked great so I contacted the maker David Dowdy . I found out that later this year he was going to work directly with Buck ..I wanted a true custom 112 and since he had time now to make one for me before Buck contract started in the fall.
I gave simple directions to David. .I like real silver ,mother of pearl and black stone ..Each side could be different if he wanted to do that way and the final design was up to him , but I trusted him completely! I had to pick a 112 to send him so I went with a Leroy Reamer custom he calls a 512. It's made with a 532 or 531 modified blade in a nickel frame. He made a few in 2009 for a show in Oregon. It's the only one not file worked or bare headed ..
The end result was incredible ! Thank you Dale for posting the pictures..
White Mother of Pearl, Black lip MOP ,Red Pearl Kirinite ,Pure .925 Sterling Silver Dividers (2 oz total!) Chopped fine red black silver Jewelry Wire in Black and Red Resin Filler..Everything in and on the knife is hand crafted by David..including the little squares ! Over 25 hours not including drying time went into this custom 112. I asked David to take some pictures of the build and as this thread goes on some will be posted to show you how much goes in to making a true custom knife

You can see here he has a idea of what he has in mind..I don't think he knows quite what he wants to end up with so he's working it out as he goes along..

It's the highlight of my 112 collection and I am proud to be it's owner ..Thank you again Dale for posting the pictures.
From every angle it's just beautiful and I know there will never be another like it. David was glad I gave him the OK to make each side different..and I am too! When you look at the 4 diamonds with the resins the chopped jewelry wire sparkles when you tilt the handle ..

redcanoe you have some incredible 112's too..Every SPS I take a look to see if you have posted a new one. What's great is Mr Dowdy is going to be a part of the 'official' Buck family ..

Wow what a fantastic piece of pocket jewelry although I would never put that beauty in my pocket to get all scratched up.

Very nice.

I'm so tempted. ..when I first took off the tape on the handles (one said look at this side first lol) it was perfect ..I've had it sitting on my desk on a soft cloth but I think I'll get a soft leather pouch like my club 301 came with for occasional dress up carry . I do carry a few, very few of my 112's when the mood hits me. The only one I'll never carry is a 1 of 6 'Buckwood' 112 made from original Buck shop floor wood. That's a part of Buck history I'm a just a caretaker of..

What a handsome knife, Clint, you and David out did yourselves. Congrats to you both. Preston

When I started to view the first pictures,I thought it was going to be a train wreck.LOL

It sure turned out to be a fantastic piece of work.

Congratulations.
