Well, here it is. I sent out my Randall 19 for a trade on Friday. On Saturday the person I sent it to called to tell me the knife they were going to send me has been "lost". No word on Sunday, and no word today. The Randall was confirmed delivered at their end today. I've called the number this person called me from and I get a recording that says it only accepts local calls.

So where do I start? Do I have any recourse on something like this?

If you used the US Postal Service, perhaps opening a fraud complaint with the Postmaster might get things going. Hopefully, this person is just a bit "slow" and no harm is intended.

There are a few current and former Postal Service folks here who can shed more light on starting a fraud complaint.

There is no eveidence of "fraud", yet..........

All of the shipping systems are slow due to the holidays. Give it a few days, maybe the knife IS lost.

By the end of the week you will know if you have been scammed, then.................................................................

was it insured?

If it was delivered then insurance won't be of any help.

What does the other person involved mean by "lost"? It seems to early to know that it was lost by the shipping company or the USPS. Is he saying that he somehow can't find the knife?

It is a little early but if you don't get a response from this person soon, you should post his name, forum user name, address, phone number and email address as a warning to others. Maybe there will be a forum member that lives close to this person that would be willing to contact him for you.

I just heard the other knife has been found and is being shipped out. Hopefully I was just a bit too nervous.
