I haven't had time to play with it yet, but it looks like a serious combat tool. I'm not sure about the sheath though. The 'hawk sits in it at a peculiar angle and one of the snaps doesn't seem to close. I'll mess with it a bit later. One other small gripe. Some small chips were raised when the handle was installed. Not a biggie, but
I feel there should be a little more attention to detail on something that costs this much.

Please don't think that I am not happy with the tomahawk. I think it is well worth what I paid for it. I just calls 'em as I sees 'em. These are very minor glitchs. All thing considered, I think it's cool.

If you look at the design of the sheath there was no way to avoid the tilt of the handle if you want to keep the sheath ambidextoures. You have one shallow pointy end and a tall fat end. Both cant be the same height unless you want the hawk to fit in one way and one way only. I assume that is the case the with the optional caracci(sp? sheath. As you have to order left or right handed when buying it. I like the fact the I can put the hawk on either side and determine which way I prefer the hawk handle to tilt by putting it in facing forwards or backwards. If the sheath was not ambi it would not be nearly as useful as sometimes knives or guns or other gear must ride in a certain spot. As for the snap, if its not working send it back and Andy I am sure will send one in exchange that is correct.

The snaps are tight initially and need to wear in. I had trouble both snapping and unsnapping mine originally, but after doing it repeatedly they've loosened up and open with just a quick tug on the tab.

And I think Mike990's right about the ambi sheath. Now if the lower edge of the hawk is catching inside of the sheath and keeping the edge too high over the lip for the flap to close, that's another thing. Take a look inside and see if there's a loop of thread or some such. The nylon's tough enough that even a little thread in the wrong place can be a PITA.

I don't know what hawk belongs to who, but there is a bunch of Vietnams going out Monday from South Carolina. Hopefully yours will be in that shipment;)

Forgive me Bobby!!!
But playing with my LI & Spike Ranger Hawk, Has fried my patience.

I want more ATC Hawks to play with!!!!!:D ;)

I had a chance to fool around with my Viet Nam tomahawk today. I trimmed off the chips with a sharp blade. That stuff is tough. I couldn't believe what it took to cut that hickory.

I put drop of oil on the snaps and they work much better now. Also,
I see why the 'hawk hangs at an angle. Not a problem. I could fix it if I wanted to.

Hey Andy! How about one like this about a third smaller? It might make a neat city CQB 'hawk.

I like the idea, UffDa. I just checked, though, & the full-size one fits nicely in an outside pocket of my Coach briefcase. Maybe a Kydex sleeve fitted to protect the leather... :D
