My vintage Puma collection

This is from the 1990s, I don't know if the Pumaster steel was different from what they list for normal steel hunting knives (Böhler NWN80):

Puma 6390 Auto Knife made in 1972.
The designation "Auto" meant that the knife could also be installed in your car with a special sheath that was available as an accessory.
The knife came from a retired hunter who used it quite a lot back in the day, but the knife spent the last 25 years in storage.
I gave it a new edge at about 30 degrees inclusive, put a thorough coat of warm Granger's wax on the leather sheath and made a new thong.

Specs:

Overall length: 27,0 cm
Blade length: 15,0 cm
Blade thickness: 5,5 mm
Steel: Hot drop-forged carbon steel with hard chrome top layer
Handle material: Jacaranda wood
Guard: aluminium
Sheath: Leather

Vintage Puma 8101-"lang" Texas Bill throwing scout knife from the early 1950's.
This is the slightly longer version of the original Texas Bill knife.
Definitely one of the more elusive Puma scout models, especially in this condition.
Complete with original sheath.

Don't know why I hadn't fully noticed some of this great content before, such as the identification of PUMA's 'PUMASTER' steel (as Bohler NWN80). I have a 6396 'Original Puma - Bowie' from 1981 or so, in their PUMASTER steel, and I'd been wondering about that detail for many, many years.

Impressive thread with a lot of great pics and info on PUMA's blades. Many Thanks! to kwackster for getting it all rolling.

Vintage Puma 7105 Rehfuss from the 1940's or '50's.
Rehfuss is German for deerfoot, which is what is used as a handle on this smaller scout knife.
It is secured over the hidden tang with a steel pin through the hoof.
