Have you ever been in Solingen? No? Do you want to know, how it looks like?

OK, here are some photos for you, of the elder part of Solingen/Gräfrath, with it's traditional style of buildings and places.

A few steps upwards, the German Blademuseum is situated, with 1000s of "very tradition" Blades and knives, from stone age until modern times.

Inside the museum has a very "classical" or should i say "clean" interior.

OK, what do you think... aren't that absolute fantastic knives?

And, if you ever have the chance, to visit Germany... Solingen is only a few miles away from Düsseldorf or Cologne.
The "Deutsches Klingenmuseum" is an absolute MUST for every knife-nut

Many thanks OB for illuminating us with those excellent pictures, the old quarter of Solingen is very attractive too.

I feel I need to get in the car and drive to Germany!

Danke! Will

What a spectacular place.
Thank you for sharing.

Good idea... Solingen and the surrounding "Bergische Land" is a really fantastic place to make holidays.
I know, you have been near by, some time ago.

Next time, give me a call and i will show you all the fine places and we can visit some knife-manufacturers to...
Hubertus, Böker, Lütters, Carl Schlieper and Otter are a few minutes away.... and we have a good beer too in Solingen, believe me!

Thanks OB! Would like it, but it is a fairly long haul from here.

Those razors are also really impressive.

Thanks, Will

Great stuff Old Boy! Thanks for the tour.

I just return from a 7 week study in Krefeld and learned on the last day that the holy holygrail of knife towns was only a hour away. Needless to say I was disappointed. But thank you for sharing your trip. One day I will go.

What an inspiring collection of cutlery!! It so hard even to pick a favorite!! I want to walk the streets of Solingen and haunt the museum for days. This is the kind of thread I will come back to often,to take in all the nuances of each knife, I may have missed the first time.

Old Boy Thank You very much for this thread it is fantastic. -Vince

Fantastic thread Old Boy, what a wonderful collection. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to take photographs and post them here

Wow, thanks for posting so many photos! What a cool museum! I love how it goes from stone to today and that peacock of scissors is very cool. Bet you hated to leave. Did they have a gift shop??:):)
