My wave is weak

I just got a wave and the handles are wobbly. They move up and down about 1/4 of an inch when I swing the blades out. Can this be changed, or are all waves like this?
 
In the closed position the two handle's on mine move only about the thickness of the file. If you think you can fix it by adjusting the plier end of the tool, you can do so by using two vise-grip pliers...unless you just happen to actually have one of those tool's that can fit into one of those 5 star anti-theft, don't you touch it! send it back to us! type screw's...Does anyone know where to buy those thing's?

I just checked my WAVE out and found virtually NO play in the handles, open or closed.
I think the type of screws are called "storz"? I found a set in my local hardware store. They used to be impossible to find, but I'm positive that you can get them at Sears.

My wave does the same thing. My brother-in-law has one and the wobble is terrible. Some are worse than others but I think it is an inherent flaw in the design.
