My Week, or as I like to call it, Teh Sucks

You had to mention biscuits. Someone on the radio today was talking about state fairs and all the deep fried foods. He said, "I bet they don't have deep fried biscuits and gravy".
I thought, damn, Guyons biscuits would probably be fantastic deep fried and covered in good sausage gravy!
Just a thought, you may want to try it.

OH DAMN, Mack. It took you this long to think of that, BISCUIT!!!!!! MACK'S A GENIUS!!!

I use to be an electrician. no work out here. :(

Now I'm a stay at home Dad Loving Life!!!!! :D No
No hear stress but other kinda stress when the 4yo goes crazy. :D

Hmm. Perhaps I should take a short trip up the road to the NIH.

Maybe I can convince someone to start designing the world's first electrolyte pump. We could all toss in a few bucks and have one installed on Moose's favorite belt (or maybe backpack).

Voila! Problem solved.

Until he forgets to charge the battery pack.

I agree with Bladite. Good job on not dying. :D
I'm bringing you something tomorrow that'll make you feel better.

Moose I used to be a hard core wrester. I would cut at least 15 pounds per week of water weight a week, running my but off in sweat suits, boiler rooms, didn't eat for days...passing out like that was never a "fun" thing. Task at hand, tunnel vision and never letting anything get between you and your goal are what champions are made of! Anything less would just be unacceptable!!!

I wilted after one full day at the range in the heat. I couldn't imagine if I had to deal with that heat for days at a time.

Good on you for owning this Moose and not trying to blame everyone around you. Glad to gear you're ok! Slow down, hydrate , take your salts and electrolytes and know your limits! I'm also in the process of regaining my stamina and fitness so good luck on that as well.

All good advise here. Take care of yourself. Your lucky, it could have been MUCH worse. Glad your OK.

My thoughts....

1. Don't die, Moose. I hear that death is hard to recover from.
2. Master electrician = steal power from another building and rig some A/C. Then don't die. See above.
3. Glad you are alive. See point 1
4. Want me to give you an ice sponge bath?
5. Mrs. Moose and the Moose-lets say see point 1.
6. Number 4 is a threat and promise if you work yourself to near death again.

Hugs and kisses,
Ogre

excellent on the not dying.

also: getting some fans, or at least turning on the cooling :) your boss can suck it.

+1 on that. Get your boss's butt in there for an hour or so and the air will be on - guaranteed. My son said they had one heat casualty so far at Quantico and you don't want to be that guy. Apparently, some passed out (much like you) - they dropped his drawers right there in front of the company and introduced him to the 'silver bullet' - a nasty rectal thermometer.

Just joking above... very sorry you had this happen, Moose. That really sounds sucky. Hope your days ease up with those guys.

Sorry to hear about the crappy week man, as well as the heat exhaustion :(. You're a great guy, and one of the reasons I joined up at BF.

I worked as a landscaper in Phoenix for 2 years and had similar experience on at least one occasion. My fix/recommendation? I started every day with a half and half mix of gatorade and water (used an old 2 liter for my water bottle, and generally drank 1-3 gallons of water a day, depending on the temps, but I always started with the half n half mix to keep me going). I also would take salty stuff for lunch, usually tortilla chips or something like that.

I'm just impressed that you had such a rough week, and yet you were still around here posting!

True on this, it ain't a myth! I've seen guys go down for heat stroke and wake up in the middle of the process, not good. I think the Navy Corpsman enjoy doing that kinda stuff to their Marines, kinda payback for putting up with us.

I've seen people fall to heat exhaustion on the roof quite a few times, although never when I was working with my dad. He always made sure everyone was in good working condition. Since he retired this year, though, I saw someone fall due to not re-hydrating at all on a 100 degree day out there. (I watch my self, 3 waters then a gatorade, also Lemon Lime, and this goes until the day is done)

Glad that it wasn't anything more serious. Now, make sure to keep cool, or at least better hydrated in that heat down there.

Yep! Same for Army, except they cover you in ice soaked sheets first. Lol.

bring a camelbak filled with ice cubes next time, moose. salted peanuts or jerky as snack will also help replace lost sodium. for physically taxing activities, throw in a banana or two in your lunch box. "clif shot blocks" are gummy bear type snacks that also contain potassium. skip gatorade - it's loaded with sugar. try hammer nutrition's "heed" or camelbak specifically makes these electrolyte tabs (called "elixir") that you can just drop into a water bottle or in the bladder (it won't gunk it up).

me, i just stick with good ol' water, bananas and literally table salt in a small container...i bike all year round (mountain and road) including in triple digit temps and i have yet to get dehydrated or get cramps...stay safe out there. heat stroke kills a lot of people every year.

Man, Glad your ass didn't die. I have been there, and woke up with an I.V. in my arm. I was training NBC on Ft Hood in mid July....a full neoprene suit at mid day in TX, man that was hot!

Anyways, the trick is to hydrate at night, it takes up to 4 hours for liquids to do you any good. Now...stop whining, and get back to work.

I'm on it. Worked the SoS show yesterday, then went to Ethan's for a party. Today, rest, relaxation, and more hydration. Having coffee now, because I gots me some sleep last night.
