My wife wants a knife!

Why not get her a Tom Krein Dogfish. Under a 100 bucks, razor sharp, somewhat of a safer blade design, (if she is as clumsy as you say it might save her from sticking herself in the support hand when she is cutting something) plus best of all you get a custom knife instead of production. Also I think its important to support the smaller makers every chance we get. Not to mention she can use it to open your beer for you.:D

My suggestion would be Fallkniven U1 or U2, depending on laws and stuff.
They dont need nails to be opened.
Why not a medium size multitool?

If it's not too big, I'd look into the Spyderco Street Beat (Overall length: 7 3/16")

I just want to point out that all the guys who are suggesting folding knives as a safer alternative don't really carry purses. Guys aren't used to rummaging around in a bag of loose keys, makeup, and 10 lbs of other assorted stuff 10 times a day

My wife has a Spyderco jester and a delica (both pink) and she's mentioned a few times how they have opened up in her purse on their own. I think keys are getting hooked into the Spydie hole.

I'd imagine that a fixed blade with a nice tight sheath would be better. I like the idea of the BRKT micro Canadian.

One of the reasons why many of us suggested the Kershaw Chive or Scallion...both have easy-to-use blade locks.

Ray :)

My wife has a real nice Case XX 516-5. It has a smaller handle that fits a womens hand better and it is a fixed blade. You might check in to it. I found this page with a pic. The handle is different but the blade is the same.

Whenever you create a thread like this it introduces you to some nice knives. The Krein and Ingram knives look great, I'm gonna start saving my pennies now. I think I will get a BM Activator with a kydex sheath for my wife. Seems like a good size for her with a substantial handle and a good price. The Street Beat is nice but a little too big. The folders mentioned are all perfect for someone with a minimal amount of dexterity. She is really challenged that way. Thanks again.

Strider WPs come in several different designs. They are all about 7.5" long overall. They're sturdy. Made of S30V stainless steel.
They come with a nice Kydex sheath and cost about $175.

Duh on my part! How could I forget to suggest a Busse Game Warden! It is an awesome knife! I LOVE mine.
