My wife's traditional Christmas present

Thank you very much guys. She certainly does love it, and I'm hoping for heirloom status, but it will be a few years before that happens. ;)

The wood it is sitting on is the remnants of the board it was cut from. Everything else was plain grain. The spoon has about an inch of plain grain right at the end of the handle, otherwise it's all fancy grain.

It took around eight hours give or take a little bit including the finishing. It would have taken less time if I'd have had the micro planes in the beginning and if I'd have had real gouges. Little by little I'm getting good tools. I think a set of narex chisels is next, then maybe a couple gouges. Unfortunately, it's hard to have a metal shop and a wood shop in the same area and I'm already trying to make knives in my shop.
