Ask the manager where he got them and what the cost was. If it is a local shop, no shipping. Also see where if you have a local Grainger. If they don't have the item in the store, I do a "will call" pick up. They have it sent to their store and you go back and pick it up. No shipping. Just another trip to the store.
Another thing I do to keep down shipping costs is to order more than one knife. You could order your other knife that you had mentioned on another thread and also get something for work from the same store. This can lower the cost per knife shipping cost. I very rarely just order one knife.
Have you thought about getting an inexpensive kitchen knife and squaring the end off? You could even go to a thrift store and see if they have some used kitchen knives that you could modify.
