My Yojimbo made an escape attempt

I had the same thing happen to me throwing out trash bags in work couldn't find my afck went dumpster diving the next day found it clipped to the trash bag pure luck
 
I've only ever had one clip get caught in a seat belt. Was a cheap beater knife. Went skittering across the parking lot.

Never had any issues with my Spydercos or other quality knives.

Of course, now that I said this, I better watch out.
 
I replaced the stock clip with a deep carry version and it rides much better now imo. Glad you caught yours before it escaped!
 
The standard Benchmade clips grab on stuff IMO - my 556 has gone flying numerous times, and I 'lost' my 940 briefly once…..as it hooked itself onto a backpack strap, lol. The wire clip on my Dragonfly was bent all out of shape the very first time I carried it (seatbelt), so it doesn't often leave my desk anymore.
