My zdp endura got confiscated

An employee at a sporting goods store told me he used to be military police, and he showed me an old benchmade auto that he 'confiscated' from someone. He basically told me he stole it in so many words, its pretty pathetic when police see something they want and decide to steal it.

I'd have broken the blade before turning it over...

Broke a bali before that some cop wanted to take, he didn't think it was worth taking with a broken blade though...

I never thought if that.

I havent been in this situation but was told that (in the US), if personal property is confiscated you have a right to a receipt. I'd request a receipt and if not ask that I destroy the knife before surrending it. If no to either requests then we (they) have a big problem.

Thanks for the tip hehe.

It's a bummer loosing your knife like that. I have a Spyderco Bug on my key chain and remove it if I'm going into any government offices. If you look in the planters outside these buildings you'll see a lot of pepper spray canisters in them.

Glad to share. We knife guys should.stick together.

Closest I've come to this happening was when I went to renew my carry permit and forgot I had a tiny folding utility knife on my car keys. Had to go through a metal detector and keys went in the bowl. One of the guards spotted the knife. Fortunately, they just held the keys for me at the front desk and I was able to reclaim them, knife and all, on my way out. Wouldn't have cried over that little knife if it had been taken from me, but I sure would have been angry with them and annoyed with myself for forgetting I had it with me. Sorry about your knife. Don't think I'd carry any of my favorites into a building like that.

well, I've smuggled a keychain knife through a detector at a port getting on a boat. I just held the knife in my hand and let the keys hang out my hand like I was just holding the keyholder.
