King, you need to read the revised scoring system - 8 miles MTB would be 4 points, road bike 8 miles and it's worth 2.66 points.

1.5 mile walk tonight.

17 BPs so far.

Sorry you had so much trouble Mike. Sadly, that's the reason I don't have a road bike and normally hit the trails when I cycle. But it's too bad we can't manage to share the road. Would make things better for everyone - and I'd feel a lot better about letting my girls bike to school.

Yeah, well I still ride - and it's probably good practice for just taking a deep breath and letting go about the stupid shtuff other people do. Really, I've no reason to complain. I've never been knocked off my bike or injured by a motorist (notice I didn't say "car" - hit a parked one once when I was a kid ) in the 50,000+ or so miles I've ridden over the course of my life....which in reality means I've been DAMN lucky. Preternaturally lucky, one might say. I'll say this, though: if anyone ever does manage to break that streak - and I sincerely hope no one ever does - they better hope I'm not ambulatory post accident. If I can get up, I will take the remains of my bike and beat the living crap out of their car, then lie back down until the police get there.

It's only fantasy, you know. I probably wouldn't lie back down ;).

Thanks GSOM, updated my score.

Just went on a quick 10 mile loop of the neighborhood, which was basically from the airport to the interstate and back; lots of traffic yet no unruly drivers, surprised me. Maxed the speedo at 37.5 mph down one of the hills, which gives an example of how steep some of the climbs were.

I'm considering commuting on a bike tomorrow, not sure if I'll wake up on time though.

Updated total 2.67 + 3.33 = 6 bps.

Had a good view of Rainier hiding behind a cloudbank, but it was hard to get a good shot with the highway in between.

Very cool shot, King. Almost looks like it's floating there.

Mike - I was hit once. Guy turned as I approached the intersection and took out my rear wheel. As the bike went down, I managed to jump over his front fender and land on my feet. (No clips or clipless back then.) Finished my ride to work - wobble, wobble - and tightened up the spokes there. I was too amazed (at being uninjured) to get mad. Bike was never the same, but it was stolen (locked to a tree at a shopping center ) a few short months later.

2 mile walk tonight.
19 BPs TTD.

damn, I wish I had enough flat space in the area for a ride that long, sadly if I go even 5 miles out I have a massive valley to contend with, or lots of sidewalks and highways. I don't really live in a good area for 40mile rides.

Not to mention I don't have the time for one either, but that's a whole 'nother matter.

Walked there miles tonight. Haven't been very regular this month. We'll see how October goes.

Oddky, or maybe not in this crowd, I find I enjoy walking with a loaded backpack.. Kind of feels like I am going somewhere- even only walking the neighborhood.. I do wonder what those passing by in cars think though.

Also, I'm not loving this new predictive keyboard on my tablet. Seems like it is wrong more than it is right.. I'll give it a bit of time to see if it gets better, but if it keeps requiring this much editing, it's gone.

I do the same thing. Mainly because I don't hike enough to actually use all the packs I've been squirrelling away ;); this is the only way they get any fresh air, most of the time...

Went camping with my daughter and the girl scouts Friday night - good fun.
Between all the extra trips to help unload cars, and the hike down to the beach, I figure I got 6 miles in - but the phone died in the car at arrival so I had no actual tracking.

Walked a mile last night with my other daugher.
Darn Blood Moon was not cooperating in our neck of the woods - but it was fun to watch the end of the eclipse.

24 + 6 + 1 = 31 BPs for the month so far.

Went on backpacking campout over the weekend, had a 2 mile hike in and did about 2 miles of other random walking around trying to find a suitable site, so 6 miles round-trip, which brings the total up to 12 BPs this month. certainly less than I had planned on getting.

I started up again late this month. As of today I have 13. Need to get back on my fitness game. Next month will have to amp it up!

Nice easy ride of 28 miles today - legs were still a little sore from Sunday. Fall is upon us, tho - cool enough (58°F, NE wind) for long sleeves.

9.3+59.5=68.8 BP so for September

33 mile ride yesterday. Cool and a bit breezy - which made for a pretty fast trip home. Worked up a good sweat going into it on the way out.

11+68.8=79.8

One would think I had unparalleled physical fitness looking at that number........one would be woefully mistaken. Need to find something (and some time) to do the other 5 days of the week. I'd like to do a little Cyclocross racing this fall, but I don't really feel like I have the fitness for it. Might give it a go anyway - after all, even if I were to be in shape, I'd still be at the back of the pack (this is not conjecture, BTW - past performance is an EXCELLENT indicator in this regard).

Got motivated today and went for my longest road ride this year, mainly because I knew of a nice hill to work on the cardio and go for a personal speed record. Topped out at 46 mph, was accidentally speeding as the limit was 40 :p Felt much better than the last ride, ended it in total darkness which I'll have to get used to since my only free time is after work.

MTD 12 + 5 = 17 BPs

No doubt my last ride of the month this morning. Stupid humid and kinda hot for the end of September in NH. I was sweating buckets. 35 miles.

11.6+79.8=91.4 BP total for September.

Next month, I'll be killing it. At least that's the plan. With no free time thanks to 35hrs of work and 2 classes, I'll likely only get to do small stuff and maybe little after-work rides in the dark. We'll see...
