Thats a fly amanita if it has gills.Squirrels by my cabin dry different mushrooms for winter, so I grab ones I see on the drive to take to them. These seem to be the favorite.

Yes sir- tons of them at my property. If I had to spend 7 months in a snow covered burrow, I might start to like them tooThats a fly amanita if it has gills. They ummm are magic.
I dry sautee them, (med heat in a pan til most of the water boils out, which my pic is of) and put them in serving size ziplocs and in the freezer. I put them in anything that calls for mushrooms; pasta sauce, stew, chili, pizza, soup, omelettes, etc. They defrost pretty quick. Better make sure to label them, they're only good in the freezer for 6 months or so.What's the best way to prepare chanterelles? Brown them in a skillet with salt and butter? Or are there better ways?
Awesome! I just looked it up and these are supposed to be common in my region. I've never seen any, but I'll be looking now.I dry sautee them, (med heat in a pan til most of the water boils out, which my pic is of) and put them in serving size ziplocs and in the freezer.
