Anyone heard of Myerchin Knives? Seems like they're pretty sturdy folders, tailored mainly to marine uses. They have an interesting web site (www.myerchin.com) but I've never handled one of these babies.

The folders are pretty stiff, but other than that good stuff. Myerchin uses a lot of 440A but like SOG, they do a heat-treat on it that takes it well into the "not bad at all" category.

I think it's because they're picking 440A for it's stainless (marine duty) properties and NOT because it's "cheap metal".

Upshot: if you need marine-duty boater's utility folders of that type, they're a good choice. However, the A500 4" fixed-blade or the A508 with the separate marlinslike is an even better "sailor's knife".
