Ok, this is very stupid - as is just about anything involving "survival expert" Myke Hawke (what a tv name), but its worth a few giggles. Myke and some goofy British dude select the "best" multitool from 30 offerings. See Myke stick his hands in ice water before opening the tools! See Myke call them "M-tools" because he is so cool! Enjoy! :D

i will say that my Powerlock has displaced my Charge for the most part

i found one cheap and decided to try it after a few people talking on here about them

i really dig the pliers, and the one-handed opening of the blades on the Charge/Wave aren't as necessary now that i carry another one-handed knife, which wasn't the case when i first bought my Wave.

in the woods i'd rather have the Leatherman over the model i have though

I pretty much feel the same way except about the swiss spirit. i can't stand the powerlock, it's so clunky.

Top 5:
1: SOG Powerlock
2: Leatherman Charg AL
3: Gerber Suspension Multi-Plier
4: Buck X-tract LED
5: Victorinox Swisschamp XAVT

Interesting. The X-Tract seems to be a particularly unpopular tool on this forum.

I wonder if they tested any of the Swisstool/Spirit variants.

I wish I had more information about what they actually tested and what they didn't like. Is there more information about this elsewhere on the internet?

I'm pretty sure I saw a swisstool in their top 7, one of the two they cut out after the rope cutting test.

Rapid deployment is the MOST important factor in a multitool? Wouldn't be my first or most important criteria item.

And I must learn to say M tool, that just sounds so cool and eliminates that pesky extra syllable.

what a freaking joke, this guy is basicly spread misinfo. Number one knife is an SOG, that really says something. if you ask me my favorite multitool is the victorinox swisstool.

The only surprise for me is Gerber Suspension, the rest are known to be good tools.

LOL. Exactly what I thought when I was watching the video.
The powerlock is good, though I prefer the charge.

Well, he's a sooper tacticool opratur, he has to be able to whip out his M-tool (don't forget the hyphen, poser :p) and tactically cut his sooper strong tactical climbing rope in .0325 seconds or less.

The lack of rapid opening is no doubt what killed the SwissTools from the get go.

One can make an argument that SOG is "best", but "best" is so subjective that many tools can reasonably fit that characterization. Heck, a PS4 is "best" if you want a keychain "M-tool" with pliers and scissors.

I saw this one when it first aired on UK TV, it's from a program called "the Gadget Show". I've no idea who Myke Hawke is but I suspect I'd get irritated by him pretty quickly. As others have already said "best" is so subjective and situational it's just not realistic to come up with a definitive top 5.

4 of them are at least quality tools, but even the guys at Gerber would have to admit the Suspension is pretty poor.

He's one of the ex-Special Forces guys that markets himself as a survival guru.

If you go to Professional Soldiers.com, what they say isn't flattering about him, and it seems he's a better self-marketer than Spec-Ops soldier.

I've never met him personally, but from the video I've seen of him, their assessment seems to be right on.

If you have room to carry a disassembled barbecue grill, you should have room to carry a tool bag with real tools I'd think.
