Mystery knives from the great unknown

Here is a further though on knives, especially the older ones. Irrespective of the labels on the knife, when you see an antique knife, you are looking at something that has been around for 5 or more generations. That would mean that there has been at least 5 solid opportunities for someone to throw it out and several opportunities to scrap it for some "war effort". If it is still with us, it is because there was something good about it. Perhaps its the quality, or the association with an event that was significant to a number of people; It has met the test of time.

Please keep those pictures coming.

That Charles knife is nice. Thanks for sharing. I will have to look into Hank Bizet.

Here's an interesting Randall Kit Knife I saw years ago that has stayed in my thoughts -

It belonged to a member here, sadly not much info on the customiser was available. Whoever he was, he had talent.

Here is a bunch of theater knives. I like the way the three on the right (ok the biggie and the two on the right) share very similar blade shapes.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I inherited a Bowie knife this week and am having trouble finding anything specific about it. Looks like A&F made knives in Morelia, Mexico in the 70s, and there is discussion of the ex-pat that made them there too. Hoping someone has seen this marking before.

BTW, I suspect that the maker may have been Fred Bizon. He was a US Expat who worked out of Mexico and was know for producing highly regarded knives during the 40s, 50s and 60s. He wasn't a prolific maker but many of the knives he made saw service in Korea and Vietnam.

Here is one that is branded Abercrombie and Fitch and marked "Hecho en Mexico". Now if we only knew who made it, when it was made and what it was made from....

Abercrombie & Fitch were a fine sporting goods store in their day.
Their sports watches were made by the finest Swiss watchmakers.
Try looking online for Abercrombie & Fitch knives from antique dealers etc.
You probably can find out who made it.

Hi Folks,

I'll second that Fred Bizon answer on the A&F knife. Ex Pat. Mexico. Good quality. Not a lot of his work left around. Not much documentation. I have seen Hank Bizet/Fred Bizon connection elsewhere. I don't know anything more than that.

His stamp was
Hand Made
in Mexico
by BIZON

I think I've also seen the B as a mirror image.
