Mystery Oak for knife scales?

I have just lately started to use oak on knife handles and pistol grips. One beautiful type is called "silky oak" from Hawaii. The other is "bog spalted oak" from Georgia. Got a new camera I haven't figued out yet but will post photos when I do.
