I've seen a few trade threads that went something like "I am looking for such and such, and I have a few things to trade. Hit me up with what you have". When I see these threads all I can think of is that if they have something to trade, why don't they post what they got? It just doesn't make much sense to me NOT to post what you have to trade. I mean, why would I even email the person not knowing what they have to trade? It'd be like fishing in pond with a bass lure, and not knowing if any bass exist in the pond.

I don't understand this either. They have to know that anyone interested will ask what they have, at least make a partial list. It's equivilent to not posting pictures, we want to see what you're offering!
It's up to the person who opens the thread though, they are only reducing their chances of getting offers.

Yeah, I've noticed those too. I'm not going to waste my time with them if I don't even know if they have something I want.

Yea, me too. I just move on. They may just be inexperienced and not realize that the way the did their thread is reducing any responses to them.

I thought it was hard to be more lazy than not bothering to post pictures of items being sold/traded but not saying what you're putting up when you're the one who started a thread proves there's always a new level to reach.

Or how about the ones that sat what they want, but only offer pics to someone who sends pics of what they have to trade first. I leave those type ads alone, too.

Hey, I have stuff to trade........ I want stuff in return. I've disabled pm and email options. Post a list of all your stuff with pictures. I might respond with a list of my stuff. I don't do pictures.

Any takers? It's good stuff..............

I like when they have a home depot card with money on it that you have to spend it there and they want to sell it. are they selling it to get clean money ?? why would someone get something like that just to sell it for less money??

I suppose it's possible they just have no use for anything at Home Depot.................

Gift, maybe?

Not real likely, but possible.

I get gift cards from my brother that I can't use a lot. He forgets to check is his favorite restaurants have stores in my state.

^^^ This, but I agree as well about not posting what you have to trade.
Even when I post a "WTTF" thread, I at least give some idea as to what I have(by listing some things).
So at least people know that if they're looking for something, I have it.

While I would probably not respond to a "I have vague unnamed stuff, you have vague unnamed stuff, let's trade" post, I have done favorable trade transactions with traders who had a knife I wanted, or wanted a knife I had, but were open to what the other end of the trade would be.

If I want your knife, I can send you a list of my possible trade fodder, and sometimes we work something out and sometimes we don't. Same thing when you want a knife I have, we can discuss what you might be willing to trade, and if it interests me we can make a deal.

It helps when the person at least gives some idea of what he wants, like one trader who is always interested in NIB, high-end production knives.
