Mystery Wood - what is this?

I work at a lumber mill and run the boiler. On my rounds today I picked up a few stickers that had fallen off a stack of wood I pushed out of the kiln. I instantly noticed it was quite heavy and very dark in color. I asked the guy I work with about this sticker and he said o thoes are the old stickers which are being replaced with plywood stickers. He said thy where made out of some exotic hard wood. So long story short I brought one home and slicked off a few chunks and sanded. I was shocked with the color and hardness. Thy are about 1/2" thick and 5 feet long and there is a CRAP ton at work. So that being said what kind of wood can this be?

Sand down the end grain to about 300 grit and take a macro pic if you can. Is it wet? Or is that oil?

Looks a bit like sucupira. Does it smell horrible when you grind/sand it?

I wetted the surface with water. Being that it went through the kiln about a billion times it smells like kiln. It feels hard like cocobolo.
