N/A

I'm not even sure if this is a legit question or not.

Pick one.....and yeah, it's that one.

Of those two...neither! Check out the Becker line made my Ka-Bar. Now those are well-designed knives for...erm...whatever it is that you want to do.

Td hurl1103 Right on bro :) OP should just goto eBay and type in survival knife , plenty of great offering there :p

Which would be the better knife for survival or combat? The KA-BAR fighting knife? Or the KA-BAR large heavy bowie knife?

The classic Ka-Bar fighting/utility knife is made for combat as well as the more typical mundane tasks one is likely to encounter in theater. For "survival" that would depend on the environment. The LHB makes a great wilderness survival tool in wooded areas but if you were in an area without a lot of trees then the size and weight would be a disadvantage.

The Becker line of knives is better but also more costly. It's hard to go wrong with anything from Ka-Bar.

I have a tendency to look at "combat knives" as a last ditch tool to get a gun or restock my ammo for my gun, so My answer would be "whatever I had if I was in combat."

Pretty much. I've never been concerned with a knife's performance as a fighter. That's what guns are for. Still, if I were in combat I would want a large knife just in case.

Ka bar beckers are indeed joy. Btw I own a LHB . The grip is way too fat. Between it and my bk9 I'd grab my bk9 every time. And for the record most times if your close enough to use a knife your already dead. Running around with gunfire combat or whatever I would not want a 9" blade on me. That's Rambo bullshit.

I found that at times I liked the lhb more. It is a much better "knife" than the bk9 and everybit as indestructible. The 9. Had more chopping power and made a better compact machete.

Each to their own.

Its a better knife, beckers a better camp tool.

For both the OPs intended purposes, Lord knows why??, lhb wins.

Ask yourself this and you'll see what I mean..

1. Which would you prefer to chop with?

2.which would you prefer stick/butcher a pig with?

PS, I've had both and carry neither. So yes, to each..
