N.E.C.K.A. Hammer-In Suggested Demos??

I know that the drinking demos, i.e. tequila (with or without waffle hat), vodka, beer, etc. will be going on all day, by all sorts of demonstrators, (Grasshoppa, take note).

Anyone bringing a camera beside me. Usually after my drinking demo, my photo quality goes way downhill. And of course my demo start when I get there  and ends a little after I leave   (no icon for headache)

IG, I'll see if I can procure some forge size pipe from work before the upcoming HI.

Mace, do you know if Aldo is coming for the HI?

Larry T

Wait till you try the Jose' with my HT relish and lime juice in it. Oh!!! man!!! Is it good. I spoke to George Dailey and he is planning on attending. I didn't ask him what show and tell he was going to bring, but it will be hard to beat the gold auto he had at the last one. :D

mace: i'll make sure i pound out some cable for a guard and flatten out some wrought for frame handle. now that i know how close you live its easier to drop by for a day trip than to wait for you to come out this way. and it cuts Ig's crazy antics out fo the picture :D

Larry: i'll make sure i bring my camera this time. after about larry's first 10 pictures they're all of the ground and some of the ceiling... everyone in a while he can't figure out which direction to point it in so he takes pictures of himself.

I have some chunks of maple & oak with burl and multi colored layers (natural) Just waiting to be slabbed out.

Count me in for now, will know for sure in a week or so.

Will not take pictures for a fee.

then there's lunch, we need to have a meeting sometime before everyone gets too carried away. of course the cutting comps. winner takes home a free NECKA t-shirt.
and i say we raffle some materials like we did last time, that went over well.
raffle tickets are $1

so lets get some more suggestions and volunteers, maybe we can find some new fun and exciting demos, if time allows. thanks a lot to all the demonstrators who volunteered, even if they didn't know they did. :D

ohhh yeah what about someone doing a demo on fitting a guard to a full tang knife?? something i would really like to see. thanks again guys

I'm planning on forging a blade of two while I'm there so I can do some of the "thick" or "to shape" blades while I'm there Mike. Your call, just let me know. Is Gary (Wolf) coming? How is he doing?

not sure on gary. i have to call him this weekend and see how things are going.
well then we'd be happy to watch you forge out some blades. thanks J

I would be happy to trade out the tequila and waffle house hat demo to do a forging demo. :D I just dont want to be doing it the same time as Bill's "catch yourself on fire demo".....gota see that one!

We have members that I informed that they were not in good standing They were George D., Gary Rua and Shawn Donly. I told them if they wanted to come they must be current with their dues, so it would cost them $60. I do not believe they will be attending.
GrassHoppa BBBBB Beaver or myself will be building a forge for the first demo. So we can get it out of the way of the smithy area.

Hey, where and when is the HI. Might be able to attend. if not I would like to put the next one on the calender. :D

Kim that would be cool. It is here at my shop in New Bedford, Ma. ( The Old Whaling Captial of the World) on Oct. 22nd . The next one will not occur until April of next year. There is motel just a few miles from my house. Really easy to find I live almost in the center of city. Come on up.

Hey, you know the fire thingy was purely accidental. I was having something to eat, grabbed some of Georges HT relish and dropped some on my jacket. The damn thing just burst into flames!

Mike.....just to clarify, I will be bringing Nitre Salts to demo some heat coloring. Hot bluing is a different animal.

BTW......I may be able to grab some bars of 304 or 303 stainless and a bit of copper. Anyone interested?

Cant make it but put me down for april. Let me know the dates asap. Behind in making knives and knife shows. Thanks. KIM :D

i wish i could make it. i have a prior engagement that eve. sounds like a great time. maybe next time..

I can bring a bunch of brazalian hard woods. i'll try and cut em up into handle sized pieces. I can also do a forging demo. I am into trying to replicate Joe Keesler's "Brut Forge" style with the intergal finger gaurd. Took pretty good notes on his demo and just did a big camp knife in that style.
I am also looking to make a new forge. Sounds like this weekend will be a bit busy for that, but if anybody has extra koawool and satanite, I'm interested.
