got my two n.i.c.k.'s today, and first thing i noticed was that they were smaller then i thought they would be (my last purchases were a 26.5" ang khola, and a 1/4" SH badger attack
), and then the serial numbers.
i recal there being something said to the effect of, if you order two nicks, you will be sure to get the first one as long as there are enough made to fill all the orders. after teh single knife orders are made, your second, third, fourth or however many you ordered will then be given to you. basically, you dont get to go back for seconds until everyone in line has gotten at least one plate of food.
but it appears that somewhere in the 3-5 seconds it took me to press send when the offer appeard 5 other people got their orders in first
oh well.... i got #6 and #161
they are fully chisel ground, and are quite thin near the edge. basically, a well executed kitchen knife
still dont like the 3rd gen handles
but they work well for this knife, allowing a lot of side to side action with the blade (sweeping food away etc)
the fit and finish is a little wobbly in the fine details - but its a user, so none of the cosmetic flaws really mean anything.
basically - its exactly what i expected, a kitchen knife made of infi with the busse logo
.
i only have one real complaint about it though.
I WANT TO MODIFY ONE OF THEM SOOOOOO BAD!!!!!
it seems like it would be so easy to grind the edge into a curve to make it into the normal chefs knife shape, removing the sentaku tip.....
the comparison shot of the flat sides = 18" ang khola (HI), 2 NICKS, and a battle mistress ergo
the spine shots = 1/4" SHBA and NICK
