I have a blank of N680 and want to make a boat bait knife, something like bird-and-trout to cut squid/herring/etc. We are fishing in ocean and often forget bait knives in the boat... I know we shouldn't but it happens. Typical 420HC small scandi gets rusty as hell. So I decided to try one of those nitrogen steels.
Anyone worked with N680? What do you recommend as a tempering temperature? I want to achieve the maximum possible hardness (after cryo). From the chart on AKS it looks like 200F is what would give me 58-59RC. On the other chart from Bohler I see it is 150C (300F). So what do you think is right?
