Really not sure what they are thinking with this one.

Ugly - while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the blade just looks way too small for the handle and the grooves cut into the handle and deployment button look like something you'd find on overseas produced clones or novelty knives.

Chisel ground spear point - Considering the very small blade width, either the blade has thin stock, or it's going to be a bad slicer. I just can't get why this was made as a chisel ground spear point. Is it supposed to be tactical?

Tasteless pocket clip - That's not something I am going to put in my pocket and I don't think even a teenager would. At least "Infidel" rolls off the tongue nicely. "Pagan" does not.

Zero handle traction - No side grooves or jimping, completely slick backside, and those grooves cut into the presentation side of the chassis will have no traction whatsoever. This knife is going to slip out of my hand and considering the lack of a choil or deep finger grooves it could be dangerous to use without extensive modifications to the handle to give it traction.

Deployment button - This knife lacks the best feature of the Infidel which was its extremely well designed deployment button. This one looks like it will have risk of slippage, which will be exacerbated by the complete lack of traction on the chassis.

$420 MSRP - This knife will retail at around $360. At that price I don't see this knife competing with other front-opening knives available on the market or even other front-openers available from Benchmade. I feel like this won't do well on the secondary market either. I hate to mention the Infidel again, but consider that people struggle to sell brand new full-size Infidels for $250 these days. The Infidel's MSRP is $485.

Benchmade has already proven that they can produce a very good front-opening knife at a competitive cost. The HK 14808 is a very well-designed knife that is superior to the Microtech Ultratech in many regards and is cheaper than the Ultratech from many retailers. The Infidel was a little expensive but by many accounts it was a good design that had some features you couldn't find in knives by Microtech, Protech etc. It puzzles me why they would release a knife such as this one in 2015.

Absolutellove this, especially the name.

"anti religion" line? are you really that dense? do you have ANY idea what paganism is?

It's part of Benchmade's new anti-religion line of knives. "Infidel" and "Pagan" are the only two out now. But in the future there will be the "Heretic", "Blasphemer", and "Apostate". :D

Yeah, the odd proportions between blade and handle make it pretty fugly.

I am enjoying the suggestion for names of models. Perhaps, if they really want to go old school book of Genesis, how about a model called the Benchmade Sodomite? Ok, that's bad taste, but I couldn't resist. ;)

Yep... According to BM's website, this knife doesn't exist. There is however, a 14808 H&K Turmolt that is very similar.

it does exist.. i saw it in benchmades catalog. it has many downs sides. one that wasn't mentioned is that its made out of 154 cm instead of the d2 used on the infidel. definitely not worth the price drop

I would understand if they dropped the price of the infidel To $350 and made this around $320.

Those who are complaining about this knifes slicing ability...it's a dagger. It's not a slicer. It's a DAGGER. Get a FFG spydie If you want slice-tastic

My local store got a couple these in on Tuesday (along with the CLA which is what I was going to check out). I'm not a huge OTF fan in general, but if you want a very solid OTF that fits nicely in the hand and can be a EDC without tearing up your pants pocket then the Pagan is a good choice. It is very comfortable in the hand, but I too would worry that your hand would slide forward when stabbing anything with moderate resistance. I agree with cnel124 that if you are truly using this for "tactical" purposes then the Infidel is the one to get.

Love all 3 of my infidels. Would own the Pagan too, if I could find it for the right price. I work at a Sawmill and constantly find myself reaching for my Infidel in my off hand pocket for cutting banding off of units. Sadly my strong arm pocket is carrying a Spyderco Endura that is more time consuming and cumbersome to use for this task. I'd tell benchmade to keep on doing what they do. I will be buying more of thier line up soon.

Forgot about this one... just took a look and they are indeed $360 from retailers. Didn't know they were going to be in 154 CM either...

No thanks, not when I can get an Executive Scarab for the same price or a Combat Troodon for just $20 more.
