Nail Nick

I want to make some folders. I don't own an expensive milling machine- is there any way to make a nail nick without one?

For something as small as a nail nick, the cutter can be put in a drill press and the blade clamped in the vise. Double check that everything is lined up and clamped tight and slowly move the vise into the cutter.

All of the above, or you can make a punch, and stamp the nick in.

Beveled wheel on a surface grinder, or any of the ways stated above.

Grind a punch to the positive of the nail nick. Heat treat it.
Use it to punch in nail nick on blade before hardening.
