Hi all!

I've been using my Peanut quite extensively and I realized I had a slight problem. I virtually have no nails and with Case very sturdy back springs its quite tas open the main blade of Peanut. The 2ndary pen blade is impossible me to open without a tool of some kind but... That is due one reason: I am nail biter. I never even realize that I bite nails and since peanuts only way is using nail clip combined small size and strong backspring its pretty hard task.

I try to quit nail biting but *sighs* its bit difficult..

I can open Victorinoxes knives pretty well and larger nail clipped knives. But peanuts small size makes me currently fail 4/5 attempts opene the main blade.

but I still love my peanut over anything else... Maybe I just need a bigger version of it: Case Texas Jack ^^

I'm a nail biter. Being so, the pattern that I find I can use easily without long fingernails is an Easy-Open Jack. I thought I read that they were first marketed to nail biting Boy Scouts in the 30's and 40's. Great Eastern Cutlery makes a model #25 with this feature, and it's almost peanut size like you have already.

Ah, is that what those blade opener gizmos are for?

I have been wondering about the whats and whys of them. Maybe I have strong fingernails so I haven't experienced problems. Somewhat too shallow nail nicks are another thing of course..slip,curse,slip,curse.. repeat as needed. :)

I bite my nails too.. All but my right thumbnail. :) Seems that I can halfway(ok, 1/10 of the way) beat the habit when I keep in mind how ticked off I get when I can't open my slipjoints.

If I had nails that didnt get hold of the nailnicks I would shose knifes that I could open. Those nailtools has mabye its use for colectors but I shouldnt consider the need of carry a tool to open my EDC. Far to complikated. I want my EDC to open easy 100% of the times I need it. This is why I want medium strong walk and talk also. I recomend one bladers that could be pinchopened like the sodbuster or fallkniven U1. Funktion is always in the first room for me.

Why not try stopping the nail biting thing again. Think of all the knives you would be able to collect. You never know what you might be sticking in your mouth these days. Good Luck!!

jampaa put a small nail clipper on your key ring the small file blade will open any knife.if this is'nt good for your pockets wear nail clipper on your neckl.

My problem is that I bite my nail subconsciously. So I don't think when i do it by habbit.

Thank you for advice... i went local phramacy and get this stuff that prevents nail biting when you apply it on finger nails like nail polish. I've been using it 3 hours now and at least once already I tried to bite my nails but the stuff works and I did not.

Most sensible thing is stop biting nail one way or another since nails are important for people.

Every knife I own (including a GEC) I open by pinching the blade. the though of using my nail hurts me.

I'm not a nail biter, but I always cut my nails very short.
Since I converted to the traditionals I keep the nail of my left tumb long enought to open my slippies :D

I've done this for years. It's good to know I'm no alone!

I quit biting my nails years ago. It can be done.Hold the peanut in your hand like a worry stone.

Tape up your thumb-nail....
If you start buying GECs your are going to need very strong nails indeed!

do the old knife fighter thing and put something in the slot to keep the knife from closing all the way so you can snag it on your pocket, belt ect. or use it as an excuse to buy oe with a razor style blade :D
