Other than milking a few goats, vacuuming and washing dishes I haven't done much today other than cut out scales and glue liners and spacers together. I got these blades I've got and I think I may finish one or more up this weekend:

From top to bottom:

A SWC bushcraft blade w/a 3.25" blade for Ms Hd. Got some burlap micarta from Shadetree go go on that one.

One of the cobblers blades Kismet posted about. I got the holes drilled. The handle on this is hugely long- I could probably grind some off, but this one(I have 3) I'm leaving as is.

A 4" Puronvarsi blade. I can't wait to finish this one. I'm putting a buffalo horn handle on it.

Finally a blade I got from Siguy. I call it Ranger Improved. For years I had wanted to comission somebody to make me a knife like a Ranger RD 4 but with no choil and with a good edge and thinner steel. This TOTALLY fits the bill:thumbup:

Here is the Puronvarsi. This thing is awesome. Pic doesn't do it justice. Rough forged with this demonic grind that is sort of a convex scandi that is hair popping!

Here's a better shot of the cobblers and the handle with the holes drilled. The handle is really long so I'm doing 3 bolts in it.

Finally here's Siguy's blade along with a Ranger 3.75 for comparison. No choil more edge! More thin edge and convex! This is going to be sweet when it's done

Good to see you're getting the Ranger of your dreams finally. :D

I got a couple to get started also. First one is an 18" Ganga Ram that gets a stacked leather handle.

great looking stuff HD... i can't wait to see some of the finished products...:D

looks like a nice set of projects to keep you busy.

glad to hear you like the knife

Where did you get the Puronvarsi blade? I bought a pair but they were so badly ground that I'd lose about 1/3 the steel in order to regrind it.

Yours look much nicer.

Thompsons Knife Sup[ply? I got another smaller one of of him and it was fine too.

My only complaint on both was the tangs. On the smaller one there's a place where the tang is thicker than anyplace else. And it wasn't near the blade:D

On this big one the tang is probably 7 inches long and the last say 2 and a half inches curves slightly to the right:o That won't be a big problem I'll cut most of the curve off and the peened part will be slightly off center in the butt cap but the blade is setting square in the horn so that's the main thing.

With the diamond shape of the Puronvarsi blade I'm going to pour a pewter bolster on it rather than try to file nickle silver to fit it.

Man, thats sweet! I'm excited to see your results. You do great handles!

Nice work you have got set out for youself. You will show us the finished projects I suspect.......:)

Nice mess o' steel there, HD.
That one Siguy did has a really nice edge, with that belly the full length.
Anxioius to see your handles.
