OK, not exactly what you thought, but I was wondering how many of us feel "naked" without at least one knife on us. I've had mornings on my way to work, where I discovered I had forgotten a knife in my rush to get out the door. Most of the time (depending on how far from home I am) I turn around and go home to get a knife before going on to work.

So, the questions are: 1.) how common is this "naked" feeling among knife nuts, and 2.) to what extent will you return for the knife?

I know what you mean by the naked thing. Same thing on the extremely rare occasions when I forget my Blackberry, flashlight or gun. I carry a spare folder and light in my mobile command vehicle for those times. I think the Blackberry is the thing that I least like to forget, because I have old parents and young kids, and hate to be out of contact.

1.)
VERY common!
...and very naked as well.

I made it a routine, to have a spare knife in my Bauer-Bag, and all of my backpacks, just in case.

Yep, I honestly can't remember the last time I forgot to put a knife in my pocket, but any time I can't have one on me, I feel completely naked. I hate that feeling.

I'd have to forget my backpack too and I have 2 or more stashed away in there. Plus I have a SAK at work in my desk. Besides, I would never forget my EDC knife... EVER!!! I would literally have to be naked to forget my knife. :p

if that did happen for some reason, I have a couple spares in my desk at work and in my car. spare flashlights too.

hilarious how none of us vvoted to not bother and not carry a knife that day...

since i got the bm, it sits in my pocket and i stashed the gerber in my truck. perfect

Doesnt look like I can vote! I'd never forget, they are the first things in my pockets and the last things out at the end of the day. I don't even walk around the house without them. + I keep backups in my laptop bag, desk at work, jeep, etc.

I ride the LIRR into work so "close" has to be before I get on the train. :p

That being said I rarely, if ever, forget my EDC. It's habit along with my watch, wallet, flashlight, and keys.

I don't think I could forget a knife. I have the 2 I carry sitting by my wallet, and other stuff I don't leave home without.

I'm sitting in Dallas with a pay as you go phone and my SAK Swiss card............walked out of the house without my Droid or any other folder. It never dawned on me while driving 6 hours down here.

There is one in my pocket unless I am on jury duty. It just has a habit of falling in there. On the other hand if it did not, there are a few knives in my laptop bag and a couple in my office at work as well as one or two in my car. ;) If I am traveling by air with checked luggage there are one or two small knives in there.

I have spares in my truck, briefcase and at work. You never know...

Getting old is not for the faint of heart. Among other things, I forget stuff, and my attention span is getting shorter by the week. I forget important stuff; wallet, cell, glasses, and yes, knives. So, I have one in my shoulder bag, briefcase, car, desk, range bag, bicycle seat bag, and on my key ring. I'm pretty sure I've got it covered.

Actually, since I'm OCD about keeping my little Victorinox classic on my keyring, I can't leave home without at least that knife. My truck key and house key are knife attached.

And there's a mora number 1 in the emergency kit behind the seat.

Forgot my knife? If I forgot my knife I would forget like 8 other things with it. My keychain knife, my EDC, my Tactical, my multitool, at some point I'm going to get a neck knife, a moneyclip. ect.

never ever have i forgotten to carry a knife! I might forget my prescription meds and get all sick but some things like knives are things you just dont leave home without! that said i have several in coats, a few in my car, one on my keys, and a few at work!

The SAK Rambler that I have attached to my keychain is something I have all the time. If I don't have that, then I don't have the key to my house.

If for some reason I forgot it, or did not bring it, there are some very thin box cutters at my work, and I would just slip one in my pocket or keep it close by.

Not that I would forget to pack my EDC before leaving the house,

...but I have plenty of other knives stashed around to get me through that "naked" feeling.

I have a few knives stashed away in the vehicle for just this reason so no worries here.
