Nalgene = dead

I wondered if I should replace my Nalgene bottles with the BPA-free ones; Lexan Nalgene has a history and many stories behind it's toughness, but the BPA-free ones were too new with no history, guess they got history now and don't match up to the Nalgene fame.

You can get the Gayot stainless bottles at Canteenshop.com.

Does Nalgene still have their same warranty as years past? I remember some years ago they said if a bottle breaks, they would replace it for free.

I think they still have it. The OP should try to contact them for a new bottle. As for my bottle, im not going to send it in, when it was my fault i broke it.

I've got both stainless Guyot and the plastic Nalgenes.

Just a word of caution for those looking at getting a stainless Guyot. The one I have has different threads than a typical plastic Nalgene. The GSI coffee filter and the cheap plastic Nalgene replacement lids do not fit correctly. I have a Nalgene OTG bottle with the flip up lid that fits the Guyot but others don't seat correctly and leak.

If you were planing on using a splash guard insert, they are a very tight fit. Once installed, the Guyot lid can not be used. You have to take it out to put the lid back on.

Other than that, I really like mine. It goes just about everywhere I go. I just use the coffee filter on a plastic bottle when camping.

I even made a buckskin pouch for it so it's a bit insulated :D.

me and a couple of friends tried to break one of the old bottles, we filled it with water and atached a cord to the loop. only after being thrown 120 feet in the air and crashing down onto concrete stairs the bottle got a little crack.

I'm pretty sure I've transported boiling water in mine numerous times. Does your dishwasher really get that hot?

I guess the hot water and the jet spray combo did it in.
(Clarification = not a Naglene bottle, but a clone from LA Police Gear)

Forget the splash guard and get a Cap cap You don't have to get it from REI but these things are one of the greatest Nalgene accessories ever.

+1 there.

My wide-mouth Nalgene (BPA free) couples with my MSR water filter, so it's difficult for me to "go stainless."
Just too much convenience for when I want to filter water.

That looks useful. Thanks for the heads up.

Love those Capcaps:thumbup: I use a water filter that pumps into a Nalgene wide mouth, but hate drinking from the wide mouth, even with that PITA insert. Also have narrow mouth Nalgenes that I like, but you need three hands to pump water into them. The Capcap solves all that.
