Nalgene wide mouth collapsable canteen.

It's not old news to me - great find! These would be great water containers for base camp and could be rolled up when you moved on. I'm getting (at least) one :)

I have had the large one with the integrated hand hole for a number of years. We use it when we go car camping. After several camping trips, the hand hole started tearing. I applied a few layers of tarp tape to the area, installed a few grommets, and made a handle out of some small cordage. It works fine enough, but the original hand hole and the cordage hanle are both hard on the hand when carrying a full bottle. I usually use the 'football' carry when ferrying water back to the campsite.

But yes, they are nice. They pack really thin. They are similar to the Platypus water containers, but have the large Nalgene top. And the Nalgene container is lighter than MSR Dromedary bags, which we also use.

I love these; I take a 96oz one backpacking with me and keep the 1-liter models in my PSKs (perfect size for chemical water treatment tablets and takes up so little space when empty).
