Nalpak storage and rust?

So I'm doing some research on upgraded storage solutions for collections. In particular, folks seems to like Pelican cases, but have highlighted concerns that the foam can result in rust. Is that because it's the pick-and-pluck foam? Will a Nalpak insert suffer from the same issue? I searched around but could not find anything specially referencing issues with rust on the Nalpak foam inserts.

I have stored my knives in a pick n pluck equipped pelican case for over a year now and have not had any rust issues, multiple blades that have been stored in the case are non stainless steels including M4, D2, and 1095.

you are in az which is west of the mississippi river and for those who don't know is the dry part of the country. az is high and dry year round except for the couple month monsoon season. not a good example of moisture humidity and rust unless the op is in az as well?

in florida, where it is always humid/wet year round, it will hold moisture and allow rust. unless you compensate with dessicants and indoor humidity control storage, etc.

so op depends where you are located and the climate zone and how you plan on dealing with humidity and moisture if it is an issue where you are?

I live in Florida, my AC is consistently set year round to 73 degrees. Sounds like a Nalpak plus some desiccant packs should make this a viable solution.

I believe it is from the cases, due to non-circulating air. I know that Nikon, for example, specifically recommends not to store high end camera bodies and lenses in cases that prohibit free air movement. As a remedy, I purchase bulk silica dessicant, drill a bunch of holes in old pill bottles, and place those filled with the dessicant in the cases. Not only does this act as a dessicant, but the bulk stuff includes indicator pellets to let me know it has absorbed all it can. It can then be refreshed by baking, and I can get at least 3 uses from a batch this way.
