Namaste to all!
Namaste is the traditional Nepali greeting which means, "I salute to the God within you."
Let me introduce myself to you. I am Kami Sherpa. I am the owner of Himalayan Imports. I have almost 70 years experience with khukuris. I have lived all my life in Nepal except for a few years when I lived mostly in India while I was serving as a Gurkha Rifleman in the Indian Army. I run Himalayan Imports Shop 2 and have a limited partnership in shop 1.
I have eight children living. My wife, Dali, died much too young with heart disease. I never remarried and raised the children by myself.
My daughter, Yangdu, and my jwai (son-in-law), Bill Martino, have told me of this forum although I am not really sure what it is. I have never sat at a computer in my life and this message comes to you from Nepal, via phone, and will be translated into English by Yangdu. Bill's Nepali is too poor to depend on.
But Bill tells me fine men come to this forum and they are interested in learning about khukuris, kamis, Gurkhas and Nepal. I hope that I will be able to give you some information about these things. Bill thinks I am the first Gurkha to post on this forum. I don't know.
I am scheduled to arrive in Reno on September 4, going through Bangkok and Los Angeles if God is willling. This will be my third journey to America and I am looking forward to it and to meeting all of you.
I will try to bring a nice surprise, I think, for people looking for bargain khukuris. I am working on this project right now and should have all information available for you when I arrive.
Until we meet again on this forum, I say Namaste to you all. We say this both meeting and departing.
